Cutrubus Suzuki of Layton Service Scam Layton, Utah
I brought my 2006 Suzuki SUV to this dealership for repairs to the timing chain holder in December 2009. They were able to cover the repairs under warranty. No problem, right? WRONG!! It turns out that their mechanic happened to hear at school while the repairs were being done, that the oil filter put on by Jiffy Lube would have pressure issues and needed to be replaced. And to make sure there were no other issues, they had to tear our engine completely down to look for other issues that the pressure issue had caused. They went to my wife, who knows nothing about cars, for the authorization to perform these supposedly necessary repairs, and told her all kinds of nightmare stories about what was going on with the car. So, of course she authorized the repairs. I called the service department to find out what was going on. After speaking with Jenny (I confess I was not very nice), it sounded even more like we were being scammed. I accused her and the dealership of scamming us. I got silence on the phone, then a response of we would never do that. A week later, we called for an update. What was originally going to take a few days was now to take until the middle of February. I just got an update from them. The car will not be ready until April or later. We took the car in on Dec of 2009. It will not be fixed until April 2010 or later. That is 4 or more months without a car. I dont know of any family who can go that long without their car. Did they offer a courtesy car? NO! Would they give us one when we asked for it? NO! They told us that it is not their fault they cant get the parts. This means that it is my fault for calling and giving poor little Jenny a hard time that the car will not be ready. I am now on a permanent Cutrubus boycott. I will never buy anything more from this brand of dealer. Do yourselves a favor and do the same.

After a few posting on this issue, and a few email sent out, I had a meeting with someone from Corporate, the service manager, and one of the service reps. What they weren't telling us was that the supplier who made the parts we were waiting on went bankrupt, and the wait was for 6 parts total. After this meeting, they DID give us a loaner car, and let us use a car until ours was fixed. About two weeks (not six months) after the previous posting, the issue was resolved. So, long story short, in spite of a rocky start, Cutrubus Automotive made everything right and got us our car months faster than expected. As far as the previous post is concerned, I take everything back and plan on using this dealership for my car service.
