Cyber Test Ripoff computer repair Longwood Florida
To All Concerned:
In Feb of 2005 I purchased a Sony Vaio, brand new. In Nov of 2006 the dvd player in it stops reading dvd movies so I call the warranty company and they refer me to Cyber Test Inc. I send my laptop to Cyber Test Inc. to get the dvd drive fixed because it was not reading dvd's. Other than that everthing worked fine on it, it read the audio cd's that I would put in also the games, the one and only problem was that it wouldn't read a dvd.
So I send my laptop off the first time to them and two days later they call me and tell me that my laptop was working fine and there was no problems with the dvd drive, I tell them that they can send it back to me if they were sure that it worked. Two days later I receive my laptop back from cyber Test Inc. I setup the laptop and put in a dvd and to my dismay, the dvd drive still does not work.
I called Cyber Test back and tell them that the drive still does not work and they in turn refer me to my warranty company, saying that I had to get a new work order number and have it sent back to them. I told the rep that if it was fixed right the first time that I would not have to send it back. So then I contact my warranty company and tell them I need a new work order number so I can send my laptop back to Cyber Test, of course after questioning from them they finally gave me a new number and sent me the box to send my laptop to Cyber Test.
After sending the laptop back to Cyber Test I made weekly calls checking the status of the repair. After telling me each week that they are promising me a different date than the one from before, it comes down to having to replace the motherboard of the laptop. I questioned them as to why they had to replace the motherboard if it was just the dvd drive and I was given several different excuses.
Three months after Cyber Test has had my laptop I yet call again to check the status. At this time I am told that they cannot find the replacement motherboard for my laptop and that since they cannot repair it that they had disgarded my laptop and I needed to contact my warranty company to have a replacement laptop sent to me.
At this point I am furious and asked why I was not contacted about the status of my computer and what gives them the right to disgard and item that I paid for. I was never contacted in this matter and now I am stuck without a laptop. What gives this company the right to take advantage and not even contact the customer in regards to their equipment.

Rob, in you reply you first state "the first time your laptop was sent to Cyber-Test, there was nothing found wrong with it. Every laptop that comes in goes through three different hands of quality control to ensure that it is working properly. There are stress tests ran, and diagnostic tests as well".
Then you say "Now - the last time it came in. Problems were found; and parts were ordered. due to the complexity of the model laptop you had, parts were not readily available".
If it was so well tested and your "quality control" was so good why did it go back to the customer broken? The original complaint states that the DVD was still not working upon after he got it back from you. How did you find new problems that you did not identify the first time - did you actually test it the first time? It appears as if you did not.
You failed to even acknowledge that the customer was kept waiting for 3 months before HE CALLED YOU to find that you had thrown the computer away! And what was your excuse for that "This was escalated to your warranty company for resolution. Cyber-Test was instructed to discard the unit, and the warranty company was to settle the claim with you on their end".
Who at the warranty company gave you permission to throw out property which neither of you own? I would hope that you kept exact details of this supossed instruction from the warranty company. I will be necessary as a defense if Breann brings about a lawsuit, which I would suggest she do. What kind of fool destroys somebodys property because a third part says its OK?
Breann, from what you reported I would go to small claims court. Use his response here as evidence that he did not have your permission to destroy your property - he freely admits it here.
I would bet that you can recover all of your losses.

Cyber-Test works on hundreds of laptops per week. the first time your laptop was sent to Cyber-Test, there was nothing found wrong with it. Every laptop that comes in goes through three different hands of quality control to ensure that it is working properly. There are stress tests ran, and diagnostic tests as well. If the laptop passes everything in a few days, it is shipped home.
The reason you had to get another work order number, is because your warranty company did not pay for a repair since nothing was found wrong with your laptop. If nothing is done to your laptop, and no repair is needed, you do not have a warranty through Cyber-Test.
Now - the last time it came in. Problems were found; and parts were ordered. due to the complexity of the model laptop you had, parts were not readily available. Cyber-Test did an in-depth search for parts, and none were found. This was escalated to your warranty company for resolution. Cyber-Test was instructed to discard the unit, and the warranty company was to settle the claim with you on their end.
Please remember, Cyber-Test is a repair facility. We have no say in the terms and conditions of your warranty.
P.S. - this is strictly based on the note from the original poster. I have no way to look up the validity of this story without better contact information.
Thanks!
