I switched credit card processors back in June of 2007. At the time I was dealing with Abanco International. I was having trouble dealing with the time zone difference, when reprogramming my terminal, and their rates weren't the most competitive.

After switching to Global, I was under no impression that my account would remain open with Abanco Intl, and moved on with my business. My accountant asked me what the charges to my account were, and I believed they were simply the administrative fees, or possible a terminal rental charge from my new provider. As the name had now changed from Abanco, to Cynergy Data.

I received no indication that Abanco, was now cynergy Data. So for the next four years, I received a statement every month. Ranging from $34.95 to $55.80. I had no reason to suspect that I was paying for a service I no longer had.

Friday I was going through my mail, and this time the statement from Cynergy Data, statted I needed to be PCI compliant. So I called My Current credit card processor to ask if I was PCI compliant. And that's when I discovered Cynergy Data had nothing to do with my current processor, and has no affiliation with said processor. So I quickly called Cynergy Data, and they CONFIRMED my account had been indeed closed. They apologized for the error, and offered to refund my last months charges.

I asked the representative to refund all the charges, and was put on hold. After a lengthy wait, I was told they could only refund up to three months, So after nearly 48 months of charging me for a service I cancelled. Was reassured I had cancelled, I was offered a pathetic refund of a sliver of the money they took without permission or cause, and then reassured the charges would actually stop.

They told me it was my responsibility to call and cancel, after they just told me it had been cancelled. Yes, I'm embarrassed it took me four years to catch this. But when these company's sub out to third party's, it can be quite confusing as to who is who.

I will be seeking further action to recover the rest of my unauthorized charges. I suggest not dealing with a company that steals your money, then wants to slap your hand.

In my opinion, Cynergy Data has ZERO ethics.
