Wayne Co. resident returns consumers' money after attorney general's investigation

Wayne County Internet seller Kumara Jayasuriya, also known as Jay Smith, has issued 10 consumer refunds totaling $3,649 and is required to comply with Indiana law in all future transactions.

The Wayne Circuit Court approved an agreement that requires the refunds after the attorney general investigated complaints that consumers paid for auto parts and did not receive their items in a timely fashion or received incorrect or defective auto
parts.

The court's order names Smith individually and doing business as D & J Auto Parts, 1234 S. 9th St. in Richmond.

"Internet businesses that offer products online are obligated just like any other merchant to deliver products in a timely manner," Attorney General Steve Carter said. "We will aggressively pursue bad Internet sellers.
It's important that consumers can shop with confidence when they are making online purchases."

The number for D & J Auto Parts was disconnected as of Thursday afternoon.

From 2004 to 2006, Smith would respond to consumers who posted messages on part locator Web sites with offers to sell them
the part they needed. Approximately 20 consumers complained to the attorney general that they either did not receive the product in a timely manner or received a defective product.

Some of the consumer complaints were resolved through refunds, chargebacks or shipment of the items prior to the
court's order.

D & J Auto has violated the several provisions of the Illinois Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act
(815 ILCS 505/). Every single person who has been scammed by D & J Auto needs to file a complaint with the State Attorney General. You can do it online!

Your company just simply sucks. BAD PARTS, SERVICE BAD ALL AROUND.

Well after reading this it looks like I am gonna get ripped off with my $1200 for a bad motor that they sold me. Charlie, Jay, Sally, etc.. No one ever returns my phone calls. I call at least 10 times a day & when I do speak to someone, they never help. This company is useless.

GOT A LITTLE WORRIED WHEN I TRIED TO CONTACT THESE FOLKS AND GOT AN OPERATOR FROM ANOTHER COUNTRY! HE QUOTED ME A PRICE ON THE PART WITH A GUARANTEED DELIVERY ON CHRISTMAS DAY. HE GOT ALL SHOOK UP WHEN I INSISTED ON PICKING THE PART UP IN PERSON.THAT LED ME TO DO SOME RESEARCH. SO GLAD I FOUND THIS SITE,GOING TO SPEND MY HARD EARNED CASH AT A LEGITIMATE BUSINES!!

To Whom It May Concern: In Regards to the P.I. who did his investigation, 1st and foremost I work for this company and if it isn't real or legit, by all means enlighten me. I work here 9 hours a day along with my two co-workers. We work very hard to satisfy our customers and yes we will go above and beyond to satisfy them. Meaning, if we don't have the part in our wharehouses/yard/garage, we do rely on our sister yards. Does that make us a fradulant company, "I don't think so"! It's called customer satisfaction. Now do we make mistakes "yes" we are human! Sad, that you made note that the owners were foreign, last time I checked any and all nationalities, race, color and creed were welcome in our country, "LAND OF THE FREE, HOME OF THE BRAVE"! Yes the are from another country, but they have put opportunity for three Americans to have employment, myself being one of them. look i am a vetran employee of D&J auto parts i have worked with this bisness from 2001 and i myself have sold over 10,000 parts for this company most of which are ours somtimes maybe broken and we have to order the parts from other recylers like LKQ GREENLEAF ect.. look it happens in every salvage yard if i promise you an a quality part then i am responcible to provide that part even if i have to purchase it from another yard as far as us not being a real bisness obviously the person who wrote this about us did not do there home work to the fullest i will give you a b- for all the great effort that was put into the PI work or so called stalking of this bisness as far as doing all this from our home computer that is crap we are located at 1234 south 9th in richmond, indiana we do all types of auto repair from detailing to complete engine overhauls so who ever this person is must not know what they are talking about but we will be glad to help you with your car parts give us a call 877-846-1666 thanks and have a good day

WHEN I CAME ACROSSED THIS WWW.RIPOFFREPORT.COM AND I WAS VERY OFFENDED WITH PEOPLE SAYING THAT THEY ARE FAKE AND THEY ARE SCAM ARTIST YOU DONT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT NO ONE NEEDS TO LISTEN TO PEOPLE THAT WANNA GET ON THESE SIGHTS AND BAD MOUTH PEOPLE..
