On June 27, 2017 I graciously wired $3,000 (+$20 wire fee) to, who at the time I considered a trusted friend, DJ as a personal loan, partly to help him make late rent so him and his kids would not have to pack up a large home or potentially become homeless, and partially to complete a real estate salesperson's license training. On July 3, 2017 I wired an additional $1,550 (+$20 wire fee) to DJ to prevent late rent. Our promissory note (attached), states a good faith payment of $500 was due September 1, 2017 and the balance due January 1, 2018. I made these 2 loans with 0% interest due to a long standing friendship.

To date, DJ has returned $0. He has never offered to return any of the money and every time I insist he starts making repayment I get "don't have it at this time", "things are turning around soon", "have something lined up", etc.

Not only do I have the promissory note to collaborate my claim, I also have text messages from DJ where he goes into great detail about how he got screwed on a roof job. A job he spells out he was not licensed to do in the first place, leaving him zero recourse to stake a claim to lost wages. DJ is not currently a licensed contractor and hiring him to do work that necessitates specific licensing in Arizona is ill advised.

I am currently in talks with an Arizona attorney preparing a civil complaint to attempt collection of these debts and will be asking the courts to impose the maximum allowed interest penalty for breach of contract, as allowed by law and in accordance with the attached promissory note.
