Complaint Review: D United Logistics

D United Logistics I did not contract with this company- the company I did contract with, Independence Movers, subcontracted to D United Logistics (DUL) without telling me- the day of the move, DUL showed up three hours late in an unmarked truck. They then proceeded to demand more money-I wish I had cancelled right there, but it was moving day, we were caught totally off guard. I was told by Independence that the furniture would arrive within 48 hours- because it is such a busy route. DUL said the next week, then when the furniture didn't show, we were told the day after, the next day, for sure the next day, we were told it was on a truck, we were told every lie under the sun- Barbara Kay told me the furniture was in Oregon (being delivered from California) the second week after they took the furniture. That is a lie- when Barbara finally agreed to let us speak to the driver, he was still in California! The stuff never was in Oregon! After waiting the legal 21 business days and no furniture and plenty of lies about its arrival, I finally filed complaints with the FMCSA and BBB. The furniture arrived over a month later- and way over the 21 business days= it didn't even arrive in a D United truck- they used a Budget rental van! Furniture was broken and boxes missing- They lied about delivery, they broke furniture, they lost goods. They took beyond the legally allowed limit to deliver goods. They just continually lied, they damaged belongings, they lost or stole belongings Los Angeles California

We initially contracted with Independence Van Lines for a household goods move from Bakersfield, Ca to Eugene, Ore.  Independence then subcontracted with D United Logistics without informing us.

The day of the move an unmarked truck, in poor condition,  showed up several hours late- I didn't even realize the drivers weren't from Independence Van Lines as i expected,- looking back it was very stupid of me-

The drivers immediately told me the furniture wouldn't be delivered on the date I had been told by Independence Van Lines The goods were loaded onto the truck and I was told to call Barbara Kay for a date.

Barbara told me the goods would be delivered the next week. When there was no delivery, I called again, and again and again- for over a month. I was told the furniture was in Oregon, I was told the furniture would be delivered in two days, the next day, for sure the next day- I was told this for over a month. I spent many hours on the phone between calls to Independence Van Lines and D United Logistics.

At one point, I asked for the physical location of the furnishings so that I could rent a van and collect them, but I was continually lied to about where our things were. The company would not give me the location or allow me to retrieve the furniture.

I admit becoming short tempered with the company rep, Barbara, but as it became increasingly apparent that the furniture was not on its way, nor on its way any time soon, I became really anxious and angry.

Finally, on business day 30, Independence got the number of the delivery man so that I could call- He was still in California! The goods never were in Oregon as Barbara had told me on numerous occasions.

On delivery, it was noted that several pieces of furniture were broken and we realized later that we were also missing boxes-

Ironically, the goods were delivered in a Budget rent a truck!! I don't think they even own trucks like the ones shown on their web page- I Google Earth looked at their physical address- it is a strip mall. I found another address on Fillmore in Chatsworth that is a storage facility and I could see the disreputable truck parked on the lot.
