In March of this year(2005) I signed up with Alf Insurance company (Dairyland) in Michigan. The agent quote my husband and I $53.00 a month for car insurance including the discounts which they stated we were entitled to. Then the agent printed us out a copy and said that is all we would be billed each and every month. However when the first bill arrived it was up to $83.00 a month and when I confronted them , the office denied ever giving us that quote.

We stayed with them for two months then I dropped them because I wasn't satisfied with being given false information. Finally a new agent found that the agent we saw didn't save our quote to the hard drive
(deliberate intent) but did do a new quote
(the $83.00 a month)...

Dairyland is now billing me for the month in which we dropped them stating that they extended our insurance a few weeks (a unilateral decision on their behalf) and we owe them. They in fact owe us...

How do I resolve this situation? I'm not paying them anything... they got us to sign under false pretenses/fraudulent means so I owe them nothing.

I was ripped off for paying premiums in advance

I beleive your problem is somewhat related to mine. I paid my premiums in advance. When I decided to cancel my policy, since I had a better rate quote from Geico, I was not aware that a penalty charge on cancellation applied. They did not tell me this when I started my policy on 12/6/04. The policy was paid in full for the year, through 12/5/05. When I cancelled my policy, I was charged rediculous penalties and fees. They did not tell me this in advance when I paid for the policy. It sounds to me like they are trying to charge you unfair fees as well (the reason for your bill).

I used 7/12 of my premiums. I should have been refunded around $392 and received a check for $187.88 for unsearned premiums. THEY DO NOT MIND TAKING YOUR MONEY.

They do not tell you about keeping it if you cancel. Keep in mind, they will cancel in a heartbeat on you for an accident of ticket without paying you a dividend on the unearned premiums. Please let me know if you think find that they are doing business illegally.
