Dallas Dodge uses a "bait and switch" policy within theor service department. they also try to swindle customers out of money with non-existant problems. I dropped my 2006 Dodge ram 1500 off for a cooling system flus and refill because they sent me an e-mail coupon for the service. When I arrived, I asked them to check out my rear differential as well.


I took the shuttle van to work and let them work on my truck. At about 10:30 in the morning, I receive a call from the service writer telling me that the pinion seal on truck;s differential is leaking and needs to be replaced. He tells me it is going to cost $236.00 for this service. I tell him forget it. I told him that this just ahppened to my truck two years ago and a local mechanic did all the work, including the fluid repalcement for mless tahn half the amount he quoted me.


I looked underneath my truck, and I can find no such leaks. There is some old (residual) marks on the front of the differential and the back of the drive shaft, but I see no lubricant being sprayed underneath my truck, not is there anything dripping out of the front pinion seal.


They simply think I am a stupid customer who will say "OK" and let them "repair" something that does not need repairing. better ywet, I believe they would simply collect the money without completeing any such repair.


I will take my truck to a local mechanic I trust for a second opinion soon and follow up then.
