I was conned by Damon Hill on ebay. He used the name damon_damon on ebay and was selling a embroidery machine. It was a nice offering and was a pretty good deal. His feed back was 83% (on ebay) after selling 5 items. I had checked his feedback an saw that the lower score was because of a negative feedback for the embroidery machine that I was looking at purchasing. It was negative because the seller (Damon_damon) wouldn't take wire payment on escrow. So I figured The past buyer needed to get a loan & it was a bank deal that prevented payment.

I was to forgiving- thinking heck some people need a second chance (not always their fault) so I went ahead & bid on the machine. He offered PayPal for a payment option so I though that I was safe.

I won the auction and promtly paid (like I do for all my ebay items) {my mistake} using paypal. I forked over $3640.00 to this horrible person. As I was paying for the item I recieved an email with invoice from him telling me to wire the money to him at JP Morgan Chace, N.A. Troy Michigan. He stated he was a rep for Soyar, LLC. This was strange to me because the item said it was located in Washington. But since I paid w/ paypal already- thinking I was safe, I emailed back & told him that I'd already paid w/ paypal & to let me know when he shipped it.

Later that day I get another email from another ebay member wanting to know why my transaction didn't go thru w/ the machine- because he had second chanced it to them already. I told them that he was a scammer & not to send any money & to report him. Fortunatly I think the were not stiffed.

When this happened (within 1 1/2 days of payment) I contacted Paypal & filed a non-reciept of goods dispute on their web sight. I called paypal later that same day & told them the situation & told them that I wanted nothing to do with damon_damon & all I wanted was my money back. They said that with-in 3 to 4 days I should have my money back into my account. They would contact me via email w/ updates.

This was last week (1-23) So on Monday the 28th when I heard nothing I called them back. They said that the dispute had been closed-- I'm thinking Yeah I got my money back!! But No somewhere along the lines the case was cancelled & that allowed him to get the money out of pay-pal & is gone. So now they have opened another claim on him & are awaiting his reply to their request of proof of shipment (as if I am the one frauding someone). Paypal tells me that it'll take up to 30 days for a ruling on the case. I asked them if they don't hear from him then what? They said that they would award me $200- that is the minimum that ebay sellers are insured for, $2000 is the max to my understanding. but he was a cheap seller or didn't pick a seller's sight to fraud/imposter who was "insured" for the $2000.

I was under the assumption when I first place the dispute that the money was still in him paypal account & they could retrieve it. But due to some error- it was closed & no hold was put on the money anymore. So He was able to withdraw it & is off screwing someone else out of their hard earned money.

So If there is any help out there please let me know!! And Be careful of Paypal as well. I thought I was safe using paypal (they boast how they are the safe way to pay) But, It looks like Damon Hill- Soyar, LLC or damon_damon- (who ever they are), is getting away with everyones money & paypal is only going to cough up a measly $200 towards the $3640 that I lost thru them. What a way to support your buyers!!

( I am almost as mad at Paypal for their error{cancelling first dispute that froze his account} [I think if they would have been on their game I would have my money back] But not as angry as I am with Damon Hill. Soyar,LLC "troy Michigan")

Please let me know if there is any help out there to nail this guy!!

Dispute the charges at your bank

That's the ONLZY way you're going to get your money back. The downside to this is that your PayPal account will be frozen, and ultimately closed if they don't get their money back from either party.

In my experience with PayPal, always attach a disposable bank account to the PayPal account, as they do nothing to protect you, the buyer, they are all for the sellers.

For this amount of money, I wouldn't hesitate with a bank dispute.

Good Luck!
