Recently, my wife and I purchased a vehicle from a dealership in Stoughton, WI; DANE COUNTY AUTO SALES! Upon receiving the vehicle, we immediately noticed a transmission issue. Since the vehicle was under warranty, we took it to a local dealership for further investigation. To our surprise, the clutches and value body had to be replaced along with a couple other minor issues (in short, they had to rebuild the transmission).

Upon further investigation, my wife and I learned that we had been DECEIVED in terms of the remainder of the manufacturer warranty! We were told that the original manufacturer warranty expired in January 2013, thus they sold us an extended warranty for $2,800.00. In addition, our salesman; JAMES R. PHILIPPS offered us a secondary warranty that would cover various dents, dings, paint, interior, glass, etc. for another $1,400.00.

After the fact, we were informed that the actually manufacturer warranty expires in 3 years and not 3 months! In the process of finalizing the financing process, our business manager; TORRANCE SNOW never once had indicated that there was a remaining 3 year warranty. Further, upon reading the fine print on the secondary warranty, it actually didnt cover nearly as much as what the salesman; JAMES R. PHILIPPS had indicated. This is an out right failure to disclose information as well as deception in terms of warranty coverages.

Both TORRANCE SNOW as well as the GM; MARTY KREPSKY acknowledged the errors in how this matter was handled and wanted to correct the issue. Their solution was to reimburse the bank the $4,200.00, and leave our loan amount, payment, and taxes for $20,000.00 intact! This obviously is NOT a viable solution as we are now paying more for less (i.e. higher taxes, higher monthly payments, and more than likely interest on that extra money financed). They again acknowledged their error re-write the loan (which in essence adds another inquiry to my credit report thus reducing my lending power and ability to get good interest rates for the next 6 months).

Throughout this nightmare scenario, we had been educated further as to the damages caused by the accident. We were aware initially that yes, the vehicle had been involved in an accident and there may have been frame damage. We were not at any point given any information as to the severity and what may or may not have been replaced and/ or whether or not the vehicle had been inspected after repairs and whether or not the vehicle should even be resold to a consumer.

Through our local dealership, we have been informed that the entire sub frame had been replaced and that there is still damage to the transmission pan (dented in). We have owned this vehicle for a little over three and for half of that time its been at another dealership for repair. We got it back from the dealership earlier this week and noticed MORE PROBLEMS as well as a lingering transmission issue. We are now scheduled to return the vehicle to our local dealership again for MORE REPAIRS! At this point, we are confident that this vehicle is and will be designated a LEMON!!!

I had addressed the situation with TORRANCE SNOW on 8/20/12 and informed him that we wanted to return the car and void the contract as we do not feel comfortable with the integrity of the vehicle. He had indicated that it wouldnt be a problem to make this happen and ever offered to come to our location and pick up the vehicle. Three hours later, MARTY KREPSKY called to inform me that the dealership was NOT going to buy back the vehicle and that Im stuck with it.

I (we) have been as accommodating as possible to DANE COUNTY AUTO SALES! We gave them the benefit of the doubt and allowed them to potentially correct their errors and thus, they have FAILED AT HONORING THEIR WORD in resolving this issue to our satisfaction.

Here we are, a year later and finally the owner of Dane County Auto Sales has acknowledged they had a problem at this location (of course they didn’t have the time nor the inclination to return any of my several phone calls when this initially came up). I juts must have been filed away as the “can’t be pleased customer”.

Not only were there multiple failures from the get go on with this transaction, it escalated into personal attacks from the previous GM. I had been accused of being dishonest and labeled as a deadbeat out to make a buck off of some poor company’s misfortune. Even the mayor of Stoughton was appalled by the reports that I had sent. Of course at the end of the day due to the deep pockets of your company and your unwillingness to agree that clearly multiple mistakes had been made – I got left out in the cold with a vehicle that should have been sent to the scrap yard (i.e. LEMON).

I really enjoy the squeaks and the creaks and the pieces and parts that are rattling on the interior of the vehicle. It’s a great constant reminder that honest consumers like me – busting my a*s to support less than reputable businesses such as this – can just get raked over the coals and without recourse! I’m very thrilled that you’ve fired the entire team that assisted me and my purchase!

Apparently I was being truthful when making my statements when this all began?! Good for YOU – I’m still out $4500.00 on bogus warranties and am still in possession of this heap of crap! I especially LOVE the warped rotors…..when I step on the brakes and the car veers into oncoming traffic……that’s great!!! My 4 week old baby daughter would be thrilled to know about the vehicle she’s riding around in daily!!!!
