I received in the mail today a letter from DAVCO Productions, INC congratulating me on becoming a mystery shopper for them. They included a check for $4850.00 with various forms advising me to follow 2 steps and would then become a permanent employee for them. Step one. Take their check and deposit it in your account and then take $4,300 and wire to a Jonathan (my last name) in Oklahoma City, OK. Step 2 I was to take $100 into Walmart, Home Depot, store of my choice and spend the $100 and rate their customer service (form for this included). After six weeks I would be making 450.00/wk as a mystery shopper.

Here are the things I noticed that alerted me to this being fraudulant. First, THe address on their checks and the address on their mail are two different ones. The sad thing is the address on the check matches exactly to a company called DAVCO Productions, INC who happen to do legit business in oil and gas. SO these people are using real companies and real addresses for their scam. Secondly, the back of the check incorrectly spells the word "absence" by "absense". Third, their telephone area code is in Canada, yet their fax number is in FLorida.

The bank this scam is drawn on is First Fidelity Bank and has an accurate routing number, however as most checks have, there is no address or telephone number under the bank heading. I will be contact the bank tomorrow to advise them I have this check.

I'm glad I caught this and plan on bringing to the world attention..first it's just wrong, but secondly to pull on the heart strings of people at Christmas time who would be SO HAPPY to truly have that kind of money is just plain cruel. And something needs to be done.
