I brought my car into the Scher Tire auto shop on Arlington in Riverside, on October 11, 2009 at 9:00 a. I told David #3682 that I ONLY wanted him to check the brakes because I applied the pedal and the brake pedal went all the way to the floor. I confirmed that the brake inspection was free. About 1 hour later David #3682 calls me and tells me it will cost $1,768.25.  I told him NO, please put my car back together. I went there approximately 1 hour later and my car was still up on the lift. I asked him why and he said he didn't have anyone available to put it back together. I saw 3 mechanics and I was upset and asked why he didn't put it back together. I let him know that the $1,768.25 was a ripoff and I wanted my car put back together now. He immediately said in a loud voice: "Oh, you want me to take the man from working on this customer's car and put him on yours?" I told him I was not telling him that, and the customer he was using like a pawn was getting upset. The poor customer had been waiting 3 days for his car to be worked on, according to David #3682, and David #3682 kept repeating the previous statement over and over and I could see the elderly customer beginning to really get upset. Well, I knew David #3682 was doing that on purpose as an intimidation tactic, so because I didn't want the elderly customer getting more upset, I told David to call me when my car was ready. He called at 5:00 pm told me to come down there, upon my arrival my car still wasn't put back together so David #3682 made me wait approximately another 15 minutes. Then, he wanted me to pay them $9.50 for the vehicle inspection. It seems while I thought David #3682 understood my request for only a brake inspection, he had me sign for a "Vehicle Inspection". That was bad enough, but then I went to Pep Boys just around the corner. I have a separate complaint against Pep Boys, Inc.

The underhanded intimidation tactics and using another customer in his ploy to intimidate me makes a severe misrepresentation of the manager. After all, these managers are supposed to be an extension of their main corporation. This one stinks!
