David Flake at the Tiny House Company took our money ($65k) to build a tiny home. His business partner then called us to inform us that David is embezzling all the clients' money and sent us copies of the bank statements to prove it. We immediately called David, but he didn’t answer our call. We called again, and he still didn’t answer. We then left a voicemail. A few days later, David sent us an email stating that his business partner was actually stealing from him. Now, we don’t know who to believe, nor should it matter. We still don’t have our home. He did, however, tell us that he’d provide a refund, but he never did. He also said he’d build us another house, but he never did. Now, we’re concerned that we’re dealing with an unethical person, especially after reading about what he did with his businesses, Coral Reef Media, LLC, and The Undetectables Movie, LLC. In both companies, the S.E.C. said Flake lied and defrauded investors. In fact, the more we read about him making fake bank statements and bogus letters to make himself appear legitimate, the more apparent it becomes that he was stealing these people's money. In a quick Google search I see a bunch of lawsuits against Flake, like In Ford vs Flake, Wyatt vs Flake, Georgiou vs Flake, Cashcall vs Flake, Schragner vs Flake, Midway Financial vs Flake, and they all have two things in common. 1) David Flake and 2) David lost all those cases and never paid any of those judgements. David Flake currently owes us almost $100k, since his contract has a provision for attorney fees, the question is, when will we receive our money?

Gaslighting and blaming the victim is incongruous

Gaslighting and blaming the victim is incongruous. David Flake is a professional scammer, and people who spend a lifetime in a world of deceit and cheating have it down to a science. Blaming the victim is ridiculous. In our case, he rented an Airbnb to take us to a home he supposedly built to show us the quality of the craftsmanship and attention to detail. It wasn’t until later that we learned he never built the house; it was merely an Airbnb he rented for the day. People like David Flake have no issue creating false bank statements, bogus letters of reference, sham websites, pretend LinkedIn pages, and of course, they’re incredibly persuasive. It’s like a talented magician using sleight of hand with cups and balls, never knowing which cup is hiding the ball. That’s David Flake.

With the Tiny House Company, it was a new business for him, but he lied and used deceptive techniques, making us believe he had been in the business for years. There’s actually a website for a David Flake from HomeStar Builders that shows him being in construction for 18 years. We now know that’s false and misleading.

For Tiny House Company, the complaints hadn’t become public when we contracted him. Therefore, he was able to scam us and a bunch of other individuals, including his business partner, who says he embezzled and scammed her for $274,000. Now, because of Ripoff Report, the Better Business Bureau, Yelp, and Trustpilot, the negative reputation of David Flake and Tiny House Company is obvious and evident, and hopefully, nobody else will be scammed. However, when we contracted with him, that negative information didn’t exist.

YOU were about to spend big money with this guy and you didn't even bother to check him out BEFORE you agreed to the deal? Let me guess, did you even bother having your attorney review this deal BEFORE you agreed to the Terms and Conditions? Now after the fact, you decide to check him out and you find all this alleged bad stuff. Absolutely hilarious! Yes sir....real COMMON SENSE on display here! Am I ever impressed!
