Complaint Review: David Joesph

David Joseph is a slum lord. My husbands disabled grandmother has lived in one of his apartments for 25 years. She has paid her rent on time every month, has raised herfamily here, her son died here, this is her home. We have tried living with her for the last 3 years because she is just getting to old to live alone. When we moved in in 2010 we paid our share of the rent, and of course we expected to have the landlord do what was needed for repairs. We filed many issues to him(he lives in herriman, not too far from here) about a not working stove, no AC no heater, the only working shower flooding the bathroom when used, and the kitchen and front bathroom sinks leaking uncontrollably.  

He stopped the leaking in the sinks only after we had to call the city to shut the water off because the bathroom sink exploded from a rusty pipe breaking.  David Joesph kicked my husband and I out because I told him we paid our rent and as a tenant we have the right to have this crap fixed. He decided to tell us we have never paid him and needed to get out and if we didnt our grandma was kicked out too.Out of respect for her we left. She asked us to move in again because she needed our help again. So of course we did. This time we got the Tooele County Health Department involved.

Dave told them we could live there rent free until it he finished fixing it up. That was in 2011.  Yet again after saying we could be here , he told us we had to leave or he was kicked out. None of us knew what his reasoning behind this was other then he said it after our daughter was born. We moved because our grandma does not want to leave. It is now December 2013. The ONLY repairhe has done is replaced the water heater after it flooded the kitchen from having a hole in the bottom of it. There is no carpet in anyroom other then my grandmas room.

He tore it all up. He tore up the cheap tile from the kitchen and front bathroom, her shower is still flooding the floor when used, the bathroom walls are rotting with mold from the inside out, my grandma cannot use her washer because the water drain is so filled with calcium andcrap it floods. Her heater works but only if the wind doesnt blow out the pilot light. Its cold with only cement everywhere except her room. Its been 3 years of him making excuse after excuse as to why he has not finished it up.

My grandmother is old and disabled,  and wants ua to live with her but is so afraid of even having us visit for more then an hour ONE time a week because Dave has threatened her so many times of kicking her out just for having us come see her because we want this fixed for her. Its ridiculous.  I do not know what else to do. Dave paid off the health department or so he said so they will not get involved. He collects the money but wont do his job. Another thing, durring the summer its infested with ants no matter what youdo, and if one of his other apartments is needing to be rented he will spend weeks fixg it up to make sure it gets rented but reduses to finish up my grandmas place. HELP!!!
