Let me begin but telling you I will NEVER do business with your dealership and I will make sure everyone that I come in contact knows about the horrific service I received. I thought your dealership was reputable. David Maus Toyota is the worst dealership I have ever came in contact with, and then you use the BOB DANCE DODGE 1990 old school of holding keys hostage so people can not leave when they requested 5 times to give them back.

I was interested in looking at a PRIUS but I decided to work off of the Internet. I emailed my sales rep and was VERY SPECIFIC on what I needed to achieve

Here is my email to Dan..

I will be frank here this is my expectation. I will not pay more then what I have today. I have a 2009 Ford Edge SEL I owe about $20,500.00. My payments are $475.00 a month I figure I am upside down in the Edge. Can you get me a Prius in my payment range with the understanding I could be about 2-3K upside down in the edge out the door? I really want the numbers crunched before I come in. So you know what I want can you achieve it? I do not want to waste my time or your time if the above can not be worked.

With that Dan Martin calls me and advises me he has a PRIUS Four in Black with Gray Interior. Leather heated seats. I can only get a PRIUS FOUR because the others do not have heated seats. He stated that we are really close on getting the numbers to match. I askedWhat is your definition of close? He said about a $20.00 difference. I asked does this include money down? He said its ZERO money down. Told me I achieved a Tier 1 or 2 credit rating score so my interest rate would be very low as well. Currently I am paying 1.9%.

Then MY nightmare begins. I call Dan on Thursday 11-30-11 morning and advise him I will be there at 4:45-5:00pm. He said you will be working with Jason. Ok. I hung up. Then I get a call from a manager confirming my 6:00pm appointment. Red flag number ONEobviously you do not pay attention because I clearly stated 4:45 to 5:00 PM. I know I said this because I always pass by the dealership on my way home to Oviedo from Apopka on the 417.

So I get there ask for Dan or Jason and Get a Mark. Ok no problem he shows me the car. Could not answer all my questions but was a nice guy. He also stated when my husband wanted to take my trade to CarMax not to bother .Mark stated we are very close on what you want and this dealership is not like otherswe dont care much about price/payment but its more about bulk. RED FLAG #2again they said we are close. We verbally told Mark what I pay and where I want these payments. Mark said Dont worry. You will be very happy here this is not like other dealerships. They will get it to where you want it. We discussed going to a Prius V with solar package but he said my payments would be way off would not be worth it.

As we sit to discuss numbers MARK asks me for my keys so they can see my EDGE HUGE HUGE MISTAKE. Remember I wanted to have my payment at $475.66 told Dan this via email and verbally, told Mark this verbally. When the sales manager MARK came to show me my numbers, what did I get with ZERO money down a payment of $601.00, where was the closeness of $20.00 that Dan told me about? Based on what Mark told my husband and me when we were looking at other Priuss in the lot that is a payment for a Prius V with Solar. The Time is now 6:15pm 1 hours gone by. With that I advised them my expectations and what I advised Dan before I even got to the dealership. I was VERY CLEAR on my expectation prior to coming in, my husband got up to leave and I asked for my keys. No one moved to give me my keys. So again at 6:20pm after MARK the manager was still talking to me about my payments, I very politely said AGAIN for the 3rd time This is not going to work give me my keys so I can go home. I need to get to my kids and my son is turning 16 tomorrow and I need to go home to prepare. Again NO KEYS. Finally at 6:40pm Mark, the manager, gets up to find Mark the sales guys on where are my keys? I was about ready to call the cops. Finally at 6:45pm they both come back. Its been a full 30mins since asking for my keys. I grab my keys from their hands. Mark the manager stated very condescending to me they can knock off another $2,000.00 of the price at a credit rating I dont even qualify for. Did not know you can give credit ratings for people that dont qualify.

Other issues..

1)

Your car insurance will go down? UNTRUE.already called my insurance company it will increase.

2)

We can get you in another PRIUS that is lower like a 2 or 3. UNTRUEDan and Mark told me that only the Prius Four comes with heated seats. However, the manager said all cars can get leather heated seats. So who should I believe?

3)

Your gas is only $40.00 a month.UNTRUE AGAINI have a friend that has a Prius V 2011 and gas costs him $62.00 a month and he works 15 miles closer to Oviedo then I do.

4)

We do not use Kelly blue book they are trying to make that go away. Well I looked up my trade in on other web sites. Also with other dealers. My car with 20,000 MORE miles and a 2007 is going for 20,000-24,000KWOW and you thought I would take your $16,200.00 trade in valueNo thanks.

5)

Sitting in the showroom you put on SPEAKER PHONE FOR ALL TO HEAR my FORD payment information and pay off information.REALLY? I would think that is Propriety information.

I will let everyone that I come in contact with NEVER EVER do business with your dealership and whatever you do NEVER give up your car keys.

David Maus Toyota should be ashamed of their business practices. You wasted 2 hours of my life that I can never get back. I will be sending this email to everyone I know about the horrific business you run..

You Did Well But Other Problems Here!

First, you were ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC to have handled this as you did.  The "hiding the keys" trick is an old time congame.  You caught on and looks like you handled it by not playing doormat like so many others have.

However, there are some other things we need to talk about.

You say you owe $20,500 on the Ford, right?  If you were to trade that car in still owing a balance, what do you think happens to that balance you still owe?  For the dealer to either sell that Ford as used or take it to the auction, they MUST have a clear title...meaning NOTHING OWED.  The dealer pays it off and then ADDS THAT AMOUNT to the contract for the car you buy!  The amount you owe DOES NOT magically disappear!  So then, you go ahead and buy a new Prius for $27k-$32k, put no money down and you will end up owing $47k-$52k or more!  You will NOT be $2k-$3k upside down!  They LIED to you!!!  The amount you still owe on the Ford is called "negative equity".  This was a bad deal all around.  Your best bet is to hang onto the Ford until it is paid down substantially.

If your game plan was to save money on gas with the Prius, think again.  The high cost of the Prius, when you run the numbers, precludes you from realizing any savings on lower gas consumption.

TOYOTA CHRISTMAS SONG #2
(Please sing to the tune of "Oh Holy Night")

Anyone can 'Google' this- SING A LONG CHRISTMAS CAROLS, and click on song #31 and sing the following lyrics to that tune, right?

here we go- 1, 2, 3, 4....

Oh Jimmy Press
Toyota's stock is falling
What will you do
How will you make it rise?

Oh Jimmy Press
Your engines they are smoking
All filled with sludge
Pumping soot in the skies.

Corollas broke
Some airbags not deploying
You are a joke
A bad, bad, CEO

You need to go
Stockholders need to fire you
A National joke
Go pack your bags, get on a plane
No heart, no brain
Oh Jimmy Press, just take the train.

(Repeat)

End.

FACT: Three days after the song was posted on September 3, 2007, the CEO of Toyota, Jim Press, quit his job and announced he was heading over to Chrysler. About a year later, Chrysler Corporation filed for bankruptcy and needed to be bailed-out with taxpayer's money from the TARP. (Troubled Asset Relief Program)

Don't forget to 'Google' this- WHO OWNS THE FED?, and go to the site with the 5 charts to see that Chrysler Corp. appears in 'Chart 3', along with General Motors.
