David Mitchell dba Sleepy Sheep Ranch David Mitchell A rip-off artist who no one wants go go after--yet Whitewright Texas
I am one of hundreds of victims of this rip-off artist who apparently no one in the sheriff's or proecutor's office in Whitewright want to deal with. However it is jut this kind of crap that goes unnoticed and therefore the perp gets away with it. Kind of like the "broken window syndrome." One window on a building is broken, then it becomes a target of vandals. Well, if no one goes after guys liek thos who rip off thousands of dollars in small amounts, thus amounting to piles of money, then apparently no one in Texas cares. However I'm attempting to stir the pot and see if anyone does.
According to his website, which is no longer active as of today, Mr. Mitchell has a propensity for ripping people off, whether it be horse trading--I seem to recall a sentence back in the cowboy days for someone convicted of illegally trading hosres. He subsequntly changed the name of his ranch from Trugon or some such to Sleepy Sheep ranch, and apparently learned he could earn thousands of dollars from hundreds of unsuspecting folks across the country by advertising himself as Sleepy Sheep Ranch, and selling organic, grass-fed lamb. There were literally hundreds of complaints, including mine, from those whov'e been waiting nearly a year for their lamb. I did some further investigating of the "country store" he also advertised on his now-disappeared website as selling his lamb: It turned out to be a dusty vacant lot in Whitewright, TX, next to an abandoned boarded up building.
Every time someone, including me, inquired about their lamb, the story from Mr. Mithcell was, "it's on the way," or "we're inundated iwth orders and will take us two weeks to catch up." My las correspondance was "my computer hard drive crashed and i need to get your address again so I can send out your shipment within the next two weeks." I launghed and sent it anyway. And like others who'v edealt with this crook, have heard nothing since.
I intend to pursue this as far as I can. I don't care how many "more important" cases are before the county prosecutor. This man deserves to be brought before the bar of justice just like anyone else. He steals with a fountain pen, rahter than a gun. What's the difference?
