Complaint Review: David Phillips Remodeling

David Phillips Remodeling-age 40-256-557-3828 said he was from Dogtown but report says Ft. Payne, AL. Wife is Christna-age 40. They have two children-one boy X-age 20 and one boy Y age 13. Drives a black car with tools in rear of car (looks similiar to a Kia).  Said he is Christian and guarantees all of his work for one year.  Probably not true as he will not return all calls-only 20% of them.  The other 80% by his message says he will call back later which "Does not happen".  He and his children all have tatooes.  He weighs approx. 135#, white, is about 5'5", black hair and beard ( which one knows can be shaved). and has a small pot belly. His children are scrapy looking.  The first week he said he had to complete a job thru the rest of the week (understandable for those that are really working).  The next week he mentions that his truck blew up-he did not start working until about 11:00 AM and then had to leave at 3:30 PM.  Also brought along a helper (Shawn) who started painting and left at 4 PM.  The second week   he started at about 1:30 PM and had to stop at 3:30 PM saying he had to work elsewhere also on another job in FT. Payne.       

Next day, he said he fail off of a ladder 10' in the air and had to rest the rest of the week.  His helper (Shawn-last name not known) painted a little more and then left.  The next week he said his mother had to go to the hospital and he had a very bad night and was not here for the rest of the week resting his back.  When he did come it was always at about 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM.  He always said, "I will be here at 8AM-9:00AM but never was.  The next week his helper said ,"My car caught on fir" and he could not come one day.  David mentions the next day,"I forgot my wallet-please pay Shawn $150.00 to pay a debt-I don't want him to get into trouble.  Also, May I please have a few dollars to get some drinks or food."  I, myself, only had $3.00 cash.  David said he was hoping for more to get some food..  (If he forgot his wallet, that means he was driving without a drivers liscense that day.)  I gave them $160.00-di not have anyother change-to them that day (part of what I had to pay for their work) which I had saved for three months.  He now mentions about having to take his wife out to dinner three different times..  Later that same day, he has to quit at 4:00 PM-that he is a full time cook at two different restaurants in Ft. Payne and had to go to work that night.  Funny and stupid-he had to work full time at two diffeent restaurants and take his wife out to eat at Applebee's-all at the same exact time that same night. 

Next week, he arrives at 12 noon with his two sons to help.  His helper Shawn happens to quit happens getting money the previous day.  They did work until 3:30 PM that day and left saying he had to pick up his wife at 4:00 PM.  He took all of his tools (which was his) and also took two boxes of screws (they were mine as I provided all supplies needed for the job.  He quit the job completely leaving 1/2 of job undone and has not returned.  Always said they would be here at 8-9 AM-never showing up until approximately 11AM-12PM.  Only worked about 3 1/2 to 4 hours a day.  Never knew when he would show up  To resolve problem, he would either need to finish the job and return screws or repay money paid to him.  Approximate loss on my part - $250.00  Also, others need to review  his personal report-checkout Sheriff's Dept in Ft. Payne, AL.  This was not his only thing that he did.
