I went to work for David Derderian/DRD Motorsports on May 15, 2005. The first load I picked up at his shop in Harrison TWP, MI to be delivered in Hunting Beach CA.
The day after I started, I asked David if the BOAT was "oversize". He said it was it was over 10 feet wide, but that he "never permits a boat less than 10 feet, because it is impossible to tell from the side that it is wide." He also informed me that the trailer I was pulling had "hydraulic over air" brakes and there was a hydraulic leak somewhere, but he didnt know where. It took me 15 minutes to locate the leak, and determine that the brake master cylinder was defective.
David Derderian waits until there is a catastrophic tire failure to replace tires. Many times I told him (while on the road) that several tires were seriously defective, and he always told me that tire replacement could "wait". There were many other serious mechanical and safety defects on his equiptment.
One such tire failure caused damage to a boat, and David Derderian instructed me to "clean it up" to hide it, and never informed the customer of the damage.
David badgered me several times to violate the HOS regulations and falsify my LOGS to appear that I was "legal". He badgered me for taking a "34 hour reset" in Arizona.
David Derderian eventually fired me (after 6 weeks) for refusing to violate HOS regulations and refuses to pay me my last check. He went as far as to issue a STOP-PAYMENT on the previous check I got from him.
Those two actions violate several Michigan Criminal Statutes, as well as Michigan Labor Laws.
He also claim I was a "sub-contractor" and has not paid things like State Unemployment, Workers Comp, Social Security Taxes ect. (violating several Federal and State TAX laws)
I filed suit against David Derderian/DRD Motorsports thru Michigan Dept of Labor: Wage and Hour Division. According to Michigan Labor Law; if it is determined that he owes me money, Michigan can order him to pay my wages and out-of pocket expences (things like supplies I purchased, toll roads and cell phone bills; he said he was going to supply me a phone, but did not until my last week there, but called MY cell-phone; using over 80% of my minutes and even going OVER my alloted plan), pay the State Investigation Costs, and if they determine that his actions are arbitrary; they can order him to pay me 3x that amount as punishment.
David has also claimed that I QUIT, or was fired for MISCONDUCT, and denied me UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS.
ROUND 1
A. The State has determined that I was an EMPLOYEE, not a SUB-CONTRACTOR, thus making him libel for all the back taxes plus penalties, PLUS that means that the State of Michigan will proceed in their case on my behalf, at no cost to me.
B. The Michigan Unemployment Security Dept. has determined that I was fired for "refusing to perform potenially illegal acts", which does NOT constitute misconduct and does NOT disqualify me for benefits.
ROUND 2
A. Shortly after I was fired, David Derderian issued a STOP-PAYMENT on a previous check ($1701.50) a crime of FRAUD and THEFT
I posted a web page telling my story. I got a letter from David Derderian's lawyer; Roy jay Monteney JR, 120 S. Brownson, Suite 176, Kingsley, MI 49649; accusing me of "violating DRD Motorsports copyrights and other intellectual property rights" as well as making "libel and slanderous statements" and demanding I remove the statements and remove all "protected intellectual property" from my web site, and gave me 14 days to comply. I sent him a return letter stating that I was violating no copyright laws, and that every statement on my website was true and I had documented proof that it was.
I have NOT heard back from his lawyer since.
David Derderian treats his employees, customers and vendors the same; he will scream and cuss at them to get his way and bullies them when he cannot!

David Derderian also used the services of WideloadShipping.com to locate customers. After a dry winter (2013-2014) in May he went to his bank and filed a debit card fraud case against Paypal for removing the funds from his account without his knowledge, approval/consent. In cases involving the internet from my understanding the card companies always prevail no matter what kind of proof you have due to some legal technicality that has not been dealt with in the courts yet.
However:
We have server logs that show he used our service almost daily with multiple daily entries during this time from his IP address and when he signed up he not only agreed to our TOS but Paypal's as well. So basically he used the service as much as he wanted then lied to get $80 measly dollars back.
So you know:
It's business as usual for us now that the summer season is in full swing and another billion dollars in transportation costs will again flow through our system. Something he will never have access to again.
Conclusion:
I will let you decide. Consider doing a Google Search with the term "drd motorsports" and you will be provided a whole slough of material from various people that have had dealings with this person/company.

Here is a man, Micheal of Grand Rapids Michigan, whom has put more effort into a smear campaign than he ever put into a job. I know, he drove for me for a whole whopping 6 weeks. Mike shows up for work 16 hours late for his first day on the job. This should have tipped me off to upcoming events! But what do I know? I know i should have dismissed him before he ever started and any employer reading this should take note. Bad attitude, bad hygein , and bad driving habits are all that mike has to offer. He complains about many issues and yet we have a service rating of 45 out of 100. This is a "passing" rating and yet he has developed a website dedicated to destroying my company. By the way, 45 is an execellent rating! He is incapable of driving and 11 hour day. He feels that 8 hours is more than enough. You are allowed 11 hours of driving a day and 70 hours in 8 days. For an average truck driver this is more than double the time it would take to drive from Harrison Twp. Michigan to Huntington beach California and yet he had to do a reset in Arizona?! According to the log sheets he turned in, he averaged less than 37 mile per hour on this particular trip 2550 mile in all. During this time, he complained about a bad tire and a leak which did not cause any problems what so ever. Mike demanded that a tire that he did not like be replaced. When he picked the new tire and had it serviced, the new tire failed within 60 miles of service. This forced Mike to use the original tire once again. By the way Mike , that tire made the whole trip there and back without failure. opps! I gues Mike doesn't know much about truck tires. This is a senario that Mike repeated on the 4 assignments he was given. Every assignment resulted in delays, arguments, and expenses i would not normally incur. The final straw came when Mike went M I A for an entire day while a customers boat hang in the slings at a charge of $75.00 per hour. Mike was sleeping on the New Jersey turnpike. When he finally answered his phone,He was instructed to return the rig to Harrison Twp. Michigan. He did not! My truck went missing for 3 weeks . Is was not until the Grand Rapids police put him in handcuffs did he disclose the location of my truck. His excuse was he could not return it because of the horrible defects to the rig which made it unsafe to drive. Fun how he passed Harrison Twp and traveled 200 miles further to his home. I found the truck in an abandoned truck stop 10 miles from his home. This is why Mike didnt get paid on settlement day. Now you be the Judge, Is Mike just pissed because he couldnt hanle a tough job? Or after 19 years of moving boats , am i everyt hing he claims? And one more thing here, i never had to pay Mike a penny. The rulings that he claims were only prliminary decisions which were later overturned because of his insobordination to the labor judge. My company remains as solid as a rock and we continue to provide the best transportation possible for our thousands of customers. thank you all for taking the time to read this and i hope to see everyone on the water. Since my original post, I have WON the suit brought in my behalf by the State of Michigan against David Derderian/DRD Motorsports. I have ALSO received about 35 VULGAR and THREATNING emails from David Derderian, resulting in me making a criminal complaint for Harassment against David Derderian with the Grand Rapids Police Department and the Michigan Atty. General's Office.
As well, I have received three emails from either former employees AND customers who David Derderian has SCREWED.
I also found a website that rates DRD Motorsports "service". 2 of 4 customers left a NEGATIVE comment, 1 left a POSITIVE and the 4th left NO comment.
One of the NEGATIVE Comments is similar in nature to my original statement that David Derderian "yells, screams, swears and is unprofessional".
