My 67 year old mother had placed a down payment on my wedding dress. I was told that I had 3 months to take the dress out of the layaway. A situation arose where I had to cancel the layaway on my dress before the expiration date of the three months. I was called by one of the girls in the customer service department that I would be refunded my money, just go back to DAVID'S BRIDAL with the receipt and the charge card and my mother would be refunded her $130.00. When we arrived at the store which is about 30-40 or more minute drive away, the very RUDE MANAGER approached us at the Customer Service. There were a few black ladies at the register and some standing to the left of us. The MANAGER said to us, "ARE YA'LL ALL TOGETHER?", my mother and I responded, "NO", the MANAGER again said, "I THOUGHT THAT ALL YA'LL WERE TOGETHER". My mother and I looked at each other and wondered why would she ask that question, she assumed that ALL blacks travel in packs. The same MANAGER asked if she could help us? We told her that we were contacted by one of the Customer Service ladies about canceling a layaway. I explained to the MANAGER that we were told that all we had to do to be refunded our money, was to bring the receipt and the charge card. The MANAGER became very IRATE and EMBARRASSED us (don't forget, my mother is 67) in the front of EVERYONE that was waiting at the Customer Service and let me tell you, this store was VERY packed. The MANAGER told us that we would get NOTHING BACK! and she told us that DAVID'S BRIDAL KEEPS ALL MONIES PUT DOWN AS DOWN PAYMENTS FOR LAYAWAYS. SO SO SO UNFAIR! They should tell innocent people like myself and my mother about there HIGH PRICED HOAX!!!

I highly doubt that you were told that you could just go back to the store and get a full refund for your layaway purchase. That is NOT how layaways work, ANYWHERE, and especially not on bridal dresses. What is the store supposed to do with a dress that they had ordered and were holding especially for you? You obviously did not read the terms and conditions of the layaway. It sounds like you are trying to get out of your predicament with a full refund nonetheless, by claiming "well so-and-so TOLD me I could get my money back!" and throwing in the race card for good measure. Too bad so sad. Your scam did not work.
