I recently purchased a wedding gown at David's Bridal. When I first walked through the doors there, the customer service was hounding me. However, when I made an appointment to try on dresses, it was a different story.

I went in to try dresses on when I was only let into a dressing room. Never fitted, sized, given a slip to try on, etc. I had my sister-in-law with me to help, thank the lord. I ended up with the dress I wanted, and it just so happened to be on clearance.

When I went for my alterations, also at David's Bridal, they asked if I had my slip. I had never tried my dress on before with a slip, so I wasn't sure of what kind to get. The consultant told me that they could not let me do alterations unless I purchased a slip. And they couldn't let me try on a slip until I purchased one. So I got to be pressured in to buying a slip that I did not want. You could also see the slip on the sides, back and front of my dress. I was so upset.

When the consultant took me back for the alterations, she announced that I was ready. The alterations person said out loud for me to hear her "well, she's 15 minutes late". I wanted to get up and walk out at that point. I would understand if I really was late, but I was actually early. But I did need to pick out a slip, which could have all been eliminated when I first came in to try dresses on.

During my alterations, she never told me how to stand. She just started going to town. Well, I had my hands on my hips the whole time. She then scolded me and started pulling all of the pins out. WOW!!!!

The alterations were finished and my mom bought the slip that you could see through my dress, my sister-in-laws alterations, bridesmaid shoes, and of course my alterations. They were paid for by credit card.

Well, about three weeks later, I receive a phone call from someone at David's Bridal stating that they have been leaving several messages for me to call them back. That my alterations have not been touched, due to not being paid for. You can only imaging my reaction.

At this point my fitting was only less than a week away and my wedding was in less than a monty, and my dress had not been touched. I was angry. I spoke to the store manager, Tammy, and she said that they noticed that they could not find my alteration slip that showed paid for about a week ago. I told her I had not received any phone calls from anyone at David's Bridal. She was quickly started blaming the employees that were making the supposed phone calls, and that she would speak to the rude alterations woman.

Tammy calls back not 5 minutes later. They found the receipt showing pd. WHAT!!!! So, pretty much, they have lost my confidence my this time completely. No way was this dress going to get altered by this shop.

I went in with my mother to pull my dress from David's Bridal, and my Bridesmaids dress. They refunded our money with the receipt that they had "misplaced". I now have 3 weeks to my wedding date, and a BIG THANKS to David's Bridal, I still need to get my dress altered.

I was told by many people to not use David's Bridal due to their similar experiences. I just thought 1 bad experience wouldn't lead to another. It turns out, I would never recommend them to anyone either.

By the way Tammy........Don't be so quick to blame your employees. Good Management could have prevented this whole ordeal.

When I was in getting my haircut, I was telling my hairdresser what had happend. It just so happens that there were 2 other brides there that were usind David's Bridal also, one is going to pull her dress too. Since the other person hadn't actually ordered her dress, she will be using someone else and thanked me for the advice.

Word of mouth is excellent advertisement isn't it!

David's Bridal "Professional" Bridal Shop, what a joke.

David's Bridal as a company has an 85% satisfaction rate.....which suggests that your poor experiences are in the vast vast vast minority. Claiming all David's Bridals are scammers couldn't be further from the truth.

You are right, EVERY bride should be offered a bra and slip to try on with her dress the first time in the store because the dresses just don't sit right without them. They are designed to fit over our undergarments. And, although you would probably want to after your dress has been fitted to them, you DON'T have to purchase undergarments in order to try them on with your dress. AND your consultant should have informed you to bring your shoes and slip to your fitting in the first place AND offered to help you to find the perfect shoes and slip before you EVER tried on a dress.

I'm sorry for your bad experience, I honestly am. Especially when I know our store works so much harder to please and we have to share a name with the store you worked with. I'd ask for the corporate hot line if I were you and give them a call so they can straighten out this embarrassment of a David's Bridal. We are NOT in the business of scamming, I assure you.

I am sorry that another bride has had the same sort of problems I had. I too was never helped, even when I had reserved time, and bought all of the dresses for my wedding there. It was a great deal at first, until I went in and had to buy all my undergarments there, and all of my girls dresses AND MINE were falling apart before I even got out of the limo!

My train had to be pinned in place during my reception, and even then people were stepping on bits of it since the ribbonwork was tearing away as they only tacked it in place. I will write more later, but I know from personal experience how awful they are.

Nothing worse than falling in love with a dress and being taken for a ride. In fact, one of my girls dresses didn't even come in until the DAY BEFORE MY WEDDING.

Then, they tried to charge me a rush fee when they were the ones who lost the dress! They are despicable, I only had 2 people who helped me at all, and any time I had finally narrowed myself to one salesperson, they would leave or get fired. Nice turn-over rate.
