TALLAHASSEE A total of $25,000 in reward money has been paid to two Floridians for providing information and assistance leading to the arrest and conviction of insurance fraud perpetrators, Chief Financial Officer Tom Gallagher announced today.
"We want to reward citizens for getting involved and helping to stop insurance fraud," Gallagher said. "Floridians should not have to pay for schemes that drive up the cost of insurance coverage."
In September 2002, David Samer, 1516 Lake Drive in Delray Beach, was arrested on five counts of insurance fraud, one count of grand theft, second degree and one count of grand theft, third degree. He later pleaded no contest (ie: conviction) to submitting numerous fraudulent claims for stolen property including a 2000 GMC Jimmy, two corvettes, a sport fishing boat, and a private plane worth an estimated $140,000. Thanks to an informant's help a total loss of more than $250,000 in fraudulent insurance claims was prevented. For her part, the Delray Beach woman received a $10,000 reward.
The second recipient, who received $15,000, was influential in the arrest and sentencing of Thomas Torok, owner of the South Florida-based Cedar Shake Supply, Inc., and Regency Roofing. In December of 2002, Torok was sentenced to 10 years probation and was ordered to pay more than $1 million in restitution to three insurance companies. Thanks to assistance from the anonymous informant, fraud investigators learned that Torok had misclassified his employees' duties at his roofing business, resulting in a miscalculation of more than $1 million in workers' compensation premiums owed since 1997, and the potential to leave his workers unprotected in the event of an on-the-job injury.
The Department of Financial Services, Division of Insurance Fraud, investigates fraud in all types of insurance including health, life, auto, property and workers' compensation... Anyone with information about possible fraud schemes should call the department's fraud hotline at 1-800-378-0445. A reward of up to $25,000 is offered for information leading to a conviction.

In Response to this posting and the impact it may or may not have on those that read it. I am deeply ashamed and very remorseful of my past actions in 2002 revolving my part on fraudulent insurance claims.
I cooperated fully to the maximum degree with law enforcement and repaid back the insurance company for their loss and expenses. I paid my fines and fees and fully satisfied the judicial system. The judge in my case withheld adjudification of any guilt for my eager cooperation to resolve the damages.
I have never been convicted of any crime whatsoever regardless of what the doctored press release says. According to the judges written statement society will not benefit from me being convicted and the judicial system believes I will never commit any crime or fraud in the future.
My involvement in Alliance Air Group, FirstAIR Group and Amerijet is no longer I was never associated with FirstAIR Group of New York in any way and should not be construed as such. I have not seeked and have no plans on seeking any investors.
This negative posting was made by a very disgruntled business partner whose partnership was terminated. He now is attempting to compete in the same business market and fashion. They make no new statements other then the past personnel history so they may influence others. As of this posting I have not entered into any business with public or private entities and was newly formed.
We have no consumers of any product or services. I intend to register with this sites corporate advocacy program to assist in the monitoring to show that I practice with highest integrity and business practices.
This however does not nor do I minimize my past actions. I will always be ashamed and remorseful of my past actions I have moved on and I have turned this into a positive experience. Integrity and Honesty is all a man really has and I have and will gain that with those who I meet.
I have never committed any crime or fraud prior too the incident and certainly after and would never do so. I have been judged and have not been convicted. I have and will always maintain the highest integrity in business and my personal life. I have made a terrible wrong and have righted it and I know it has been forgiven by many and a small few may decide not to forgive and that is something I shall accept.
Unfortunately our society has been driven by unforgivness and intolerance. This day in age with the World Wide Web being the greatest avenue for information sharing of our time whether the information is truthful or in some cases untruthful for those that want to manipulate information for there own agendas. Greed is a very bad and destructive beast and I know that first hand. Envy is just as destructive. Any additional complaints are from those that want me too fail and are completely untruthful.
I believe for those who read my heart felt apology and my eager and positive involvement to resolve my personnel issues from many years back and for the past 5 years business partners and others have had complete knowledge and trust in me.
I have a very successful relationship with all those individuals. For those who decide to do business together I have an extensive personnel and professional references to share. For those that elect not too, good luck too you and God Bless You!
