I hired David Sobel of David Sobel Photography to photograph an event for me in 2014. He did not get the photos to me from the event for several months even though he had assured me I would have them within two weeks. Moreover he appeared to be more interested in meeting women at the event then doing his job. Many guests commented on this and the women felt harrassed by him. Also many of the guests commented that he smelt like marijuana. Obviously I would NEVER use him again.
Unfortunately one of the guests at my event got his card and hired him, not for an event but for a shoot. She has an identical experience where he was more interested in flirting with the women at her place of business then focusing on the shoot and he appeared to be drunk or stoned and took forever to get the photos to her.
I hope this report helps prevent someone from hiring David Sobel and feeling tremendously ripped off.

I represent Models. David Sobel took pictures of one of my clients. She felt he was creepy but in such a pathetic way his sexual suggestions did not concern her like they may have. However, he took weeks to get the photos back to her. His claim that David Sobel Photography always gets them back in 7 days is a pure lie.

The lies in the negative reports against David Sobel Photography are being reported by an angry woman who felt romantically rejected by the photographer, David Sobel. The angry woman's name is Mrs. Ellen Lavinthal, she is married, and is Director of Animal Alliance in Los Angeles. Mrs. Lavinthal repeatedly made inappropriate attempts to have an affair with Mr Sobel in 2014, and felt personally rejected by Mr Sobel's polite decline of a relationship with her - apparently so rejected that she has decided to commit libel against Mr Sobel and David Sobel Photography with her slanderous and false accusations. David Sobel Photography has an excellent 15-years long reputation of high quality photography and service to its clients, and will continue to deliver this quality and guaranteed client satisfaction. Just got wind of another ripoff report filed against David Sobel. This guy apparently is to be avoided until he gets help, cleans up and is much more resposible. He needs to realize that his actions hurt others.

This report is a flat out lie. David Sobel Photography has never taken longer than 7 days to deliver images to a client, David Sobel Photography does not drink or smoke marijuana, and David Sobel Photography most certainly doesn't jeopardize his business or reputation with any sort of inappropriate behavior towards people during a photo shoot, or at any other time.
It's easy to spread slander and lies anonymously on a website. If this were a legitimate complaint by an actual client, we would hope that person would have the integrity to contact us directly. But it's not legitimate, thus this cowardly 'report'.
