My husband and I went to Vernal, Utah to visit our daughter and grandchildren. This is 800 miles from our home. We booked our room online through TripRewards website. We used our bonus points that we had been saving.

Upon arriving at Days Inn, They gave us room 115 and told us to park in the spot for 118 because there was a truck blocking our spot.

Entering the room, we found we had only 1 bed instead of the 2 that we had reserved. The room was dirty. I had to wash the dirt off the table. There was dirt and small pieces of trash on the floor by the T.V.

When I turned on the heater, it did not work. My husband notice the wires hanging and said they were not conected. He than got a chair, slid it over to the A/C Heater unit high on the wall and turned it on. I would not have been able to see the controls if it was up to me.

We stay there that night because we were sure what else to do.

The next morning we found somewhere else to stay and requested a refund of our points for the night that we were not going to stay. We were told they could not give a refund because the triprewards program had already paid.

I have filed a complaint with Days Inn Worldwide, Inc. I am hoping to get the points back, but if not, I do hope this motel is removed from the Days Inn program.

I have taken pictures, in case I need them.

I just realized the irony here by looking at your title once more ... "No refund for bad room"

You actually want to get a refund for a room that you got for FREE in the first place and did not even pay for? How is it possible to refund something that was FREE? I find that hilarious. Sounds like you are trying to double-dip with your greedy outstretched hand!

I can understand if you were not satisfied with your hotel room, but it appears that it was clean enough for you to willingly stay one night with no problem. Nowhere do you mention bringing this issue to the attention of management while you were there in the room, which I find strange as I would surely call down to the front desk if I encountered such problems myself. If you are so unhappy yet don't let someone know, how do you expect anything to be done about it?

A couple other things about your story raise some red flags. If the room was booked for only yourself and your husband, why are you complaining about only getting one bed? Normally when a couple checks in, the hotel provides one bed as this is what 99.9% of couples prefer. Do you two sleep in separate beds? Again, you mention nothing about bringing this to management's attention, and instead indicate that you accepted the single-bed room at check-in. Additionally, you complain that the heater unit "did not work" and was "not connected," yet your husband was able to turn on the "A/C Heater unit" which suggests that it worked just fine. Did your room have heat or not? Your story is quite unclear.

Furthermore, looking at the TripRewards website, it is clearly stated that your bonus points are not refundable or transferable once your trip has been booked. Why do you feel that you are entitled to refund and that this policy does not apply to you? If I personally were traveling "800 miles" away from home and miniscule issues bothered me, I would surely select a hotel a few grades higher than a Days Inn.

Keeping in mind that you did not even pay for the hotel room (but were given the room for free with your "bonus points"), and never once voiced your concern to hotel management to give them an opportunity to make things right, I cannot fathom why you are complaining now. (Unless of course these things never really happened and you are nit-picking in an attempt to get another freebie of some sort.)
