I checked into this hotel in the afternoon and checked out the same night at 10:30 pm. When i went to the front desk to return the key and get my deposit, the clerk told me to come back the next day to get the deposit since no ones there to check the room. I go back the next day and ask for my deposit and the clerk tells me that the deposit is already refunded in their system. I said who picked it up and who signed for it. She refused to give me the deposit and told me to call and talk to the manager. I called the manager left him a message and the rude manager calls me back saying Mark(i believe this guy stole my money) said that i came and took the deposit in the day time. The manager was so rude and he said why dont u come and talk to him and mark face to face and i said ok fine and i would also like to see the signed copy of my receipt when the deposit was picked up and he pausd and then he says that we dont get the receipt signed! I told him ofcourse you have to get the receipts signed and i know because i work at a hotel too and hes said "but we dont get it signed". Then he said okay i will call u back and let you know when mark will be in because he had a head injury so hes not coming into work right now. And i havent gotten any calls. They are rip ofs! thieves! they steal the customers money.

Motels that rent "by the hour" are shady establishments and cannot be trusted! ... I agree with Steve

This guy essentially rented a motel room "by the hour" and paid an exhorbitant deposit to do so (and to keep his motel antics anonymous by not putting down a credit card). He should have never left without his cash in hand. Or perhaps, he should have never rented the room in this manner in the first place. Motels that rent "by the hour" are shady establishments and cannot be trusted!

Dave,

In CA it is almost impossible to get a hotel room without a credit card unless you are getting one of the hourly ones!

$150 deposit is not the highest I have seen, and it makes no difference as to the number of nights, as your room rent is prepaid. The deposit is for damages and theft.

The OP was crazy to leave without it in the first place. That had ripoff written all over it. The police should have been called and a report filed.

$150.00 motel deposit for 1 day

I think not... Why in God's name would ANYONE pay a $150.00 deposit on a room for less than a day? Something is wrong with this report. No motel charges that kind of a deposit, even if you did pay cash for the room.
