I was interested in a free credit report with another company. Attached to this offer were other options or areas of interest and I checked a box that said I was interested in grant money. I got a phone call from a customer service representative and after he told me the details of the program and its cost after the free trial, I said, "no, I don't want this." He said he was verifying my information which he already had because I had filled it all out prior to this for the credit report for the other company. When he told me the terms and conditions, I told him I did not want it and had absolutely no interest. He asked me to try the free trial offer and I said, "no, because I don't want to cancel in 14 days and I know I will cancel." That was three months ago.

I got a phone call from the bank over this past weekend saying that I was overdrawn on an account I barely ever use and only keep a small amount of money in. I was surprised to hear this since I knew I had not been charging anything substantial to this account. I went to the bank to find out the problem and found out that I had been charged $69.95 three times. They gave me the company's name and phone number. I called the Grant Express and explained my situation expecting that they would give me back all three months worth of charges. I spoke first with Sarah, then with her supervisor (Veronica), and finally to Veronica's supervisor (Adam). Each told me he/she would only be able to credit one month's service charge and cancel my subscription. I asked for an address where I can write to appeal and Adam told me that they are internet only and there is no place I can write. I asked who the company president or CEO is, and Adam said he was not authorized to give out that information for security puposes. So, I am out $209.90 for a service I said I did not want and have never used. The charges were $69.95 a month for two months plus $70.00 in overdraft fees from my bank. What is the point in having someone verify your information and interest in a service if when you tell them "no" they charge you anyway? What a scam!
