Two young men came by and were selling books for hospitals in exchange for points towards a trip to a foreign country. The stated that they were in competition with "the girls team." The cheapest subscription was $59, which included a nonrefundable $15 service fee. The receipt they had looked legitimate, except that the website is bogus and similar setup to other door-to-door magazine scams that have been posted on this forum (actually, almost exactly the same except for color scheme). The receipt has no phone number, neither does the website. The sales people are very convincing and even try to talk their way into your home. They also probably have no idea what they've really gotten themselves into. It is a scam. If you get scammed, call your bank and immediately put a stop payment on the check, then proceed to close the account. It seems like by the time people realize that it's scam, the checks are already cashed. If you gave them cash, most likely that's the last time you see it. Best advice after being scammed and trying everything is to spread the word about the scam. It seems like, based on Google searches, that the company closes their PO BOX and LLC, creates a new one and starts over. All in all, the commonality is that they seem to be based out of Phoenix, AZ 85071. Be aware. Spread the information. Stop the scammers from getting hard earned money.
