On April 3, 2024 we entered into an agreement with DD Marine Service for them to do an engine survey on a boat located in Cape Coral, FL. We paid the entire $1,686.41 in two equal installments in advance with Pay Pal.

On April 10, 2024 their technician Blake came to the boat to do the survey. He took five samples of engine oil and transmission fluid and the generator oil. He also did a compression test of the engines and load tested the generator. Danny Feijoo, Blake’s supervisor, emailed me the results of the fluid samples and the compression test results on April 16.

During the survey a sea trial was conducted, but we don’t know if Blake tested anything during the trial. Blake attempted to do the Mercruiser computer download but he couldn’t get it connected. He told us the computer had bad plugs and couldn’t connect to the engine modules. He called his boss and then told us Danny had another computer and he would come back out the next day, April 16th. Blake came back the next day but it is unclear what all he did, as we never received any results from them.

The morning of 4/18 I texted Danny requesting the survey report. I received a nasty phone call from Gene, the service manager, who started yelling at me saying I had woken up Danny’s baby with my text. I asked him to stop yelling at me, to which he said “F*** Off!!” and hung up the phone.

I texted Blake and asked him what all he had accomplished the second time out. He said he didn’t do a sea trial at all and didn’t tell me anything abut the computer download.

A few minutes later Gene called again, yelling at me and telling me not to harass his workers. He said “You’re this close to not getting your report at all.” I asked “Why is that?” He replied, “Because you’re an a**hole and you’re immature.” (Gene was the one who was name calling.) He said I didn’t realize I was dealing with a “Pit Bull.” He then said he would send us the report as soon as he got back to his office. But he never did.

To this day we still don’t have our report. We had to drive the boat to and pay another service $167.74 who had the proper Mercruiser software to read the engine fault codes, etc. We suspect that DD Marine didn’t have the proper software.

Our purchase acceptance date for the boat were were buying was April 21,2024. We told DD Marine that the engine survey report was time sensitive, but they didn’t seem to care. We ended up making the purchase decision based on the incomplete information we received from DD Marine and the computer information from the other shop.

Of the six activities listed on their invoice that they were supposed to perform for $1,192.00 plus 6% tax, DD Marine only did four of the six:

n  Engines and their accessories

n  Transmissions and their accessories

n  Load test the generator

n  Compression test the engines

Not Provided:

n  Mercruiser computer download results

n  Sea trial engine testing results

Therefore, we were prepared to pay them two thirds of the total = $846.56 and requested a refund of $416.96.

Finally, we disputed the charge on our credit card and received the credit of $416.96 from CitiCards.

DD Marine Service obviously didn’t know what they were doing and were a nightmare to work with.

Buyer beware this company!!
