This scam has been playing on my nerves for quite some time now. They have been phoning my wife and myself including my work phone for months to sell us an extended warranty on our vehicles. Well it seems you can't speak to anyone to have your number(s) removed from their calling list and you can't block their calls because they continually scramble their calling number.

Well I finally took the bait and played along as to try to get more information about where these companies are located. The first individual (Terry Hamton) explained the whole program and how much it was going to cost $837.50/year with $495.00 dwn for four years...what a bargain. Well whenever I asked for an address or phone number he would advise me that they don't Deal with the mail because in his words "the mail system is the least secure way of doing business" he was speechless when I have never had trouble mailing in a mortgage payment. Well this went back and fourth for awhile he asking for my credit card or checking information and me asking for a phone number or physical address. He (Terry) then transferred me to their financial division where I spoke with Ryan (no last name). Mr. Ryan advised that to make things easier he could cut my premium and down payment in half all I have to do is give him my credit card info. Again the back and fourth commenced and end result he would not give me any contact info and I didn't give any payment info.

After some research I found out that Dealer Preferred Warranties is a broker out of St Louis MO. The company that DPW was trying to sell me was Gold Key Protection Plan aka Automobile Consumer Service Corporation (ACSC) aka Vehicle Service Insurance Company aka ACSC of Florida Inc.. Iplan on fowarding my complaints to the BBB, Alabama Attorneys Office and the Missouri States Attorneys Office. Oh by the way I was able to record my conversations on my cell phone. I would say that no one could argue the fact that at the very least their tactic are very unethical and I'll leave the criminal determination to the attorneys.

Gold Key Scam Report

#3General Comment

Thu, February 11, 2010

Gold key auto warranty is a hoax and a scam. I went onto the website where I put in exact information of my vehicle and after I have finished and hit submit, it said an operator for gold key warranty would contact me. Two days later they contact me and the rep at the time do not know his name was asking me why I wanted auto warranty, I told him I just bought a used dodge Dakota and that it has 92,000 miles and I wanted to make sure that I am covered in case something would go wrong in the future being I travel a lot. The gold hey rep was sitting on the phone going over how wonderful this warranty is and going threw exactly what I was covered and made it sound like this is the best warranty there is I mean he was just selling me this warranty so I gave in thinking it was the best. The rep told me because they cannot come out a physically inspect the vehicle that I would have to drive additional 1000 miles which would have been 93,125 miles and wait a month to get full coverage of the vehicle, now everyone knows best auto warranty companies send a rep out to actually inspect the vehicle to make sure that the buyer isn't just using the warranty company, but this didn't go that way. So of this time, I have drove 1000 miles and a month has passed by now I already paid $150.00 for a down payment and additional payment of $122.00 would be taken out every month for 24 months which equals up to about 2 thousand and some change, anyway I encountered a problem with my truck an oil leak several of them to be exact which were due to bad gaskets, I have called gold key and told them that where can I take my vehicle is it needs to be fixed, "they said anywhere of your choice" so I took to it the local repair shop near me and told them about gold key and siad to them if they could find what is wrong with the truck and the sales at the local repair shop had said soon they find what is wrong with it they will call claims of gold key, anyway so I have many leaks as said due to bad gaskets and when the service guy of the repair shop called gold key, the rep told the repair shop NOTHING" was covered when in my policy it states  that gaskets and seals are part of items covered, now they have already taken money out and they take it pretty fast but when it is time to pay, they argue and say they do not cover or they would not pay. Gold key warranty is a rip off and not trust able, they are fast to take your money but not fix your vehicle when it needs to be repaired, I strongly do not recommend this company to ANYONE!  Their promises are un rewarding and they do not stand by their promises at all because they will lie to you later after you purchase their products.  Dan Barnegat New Jersey U.S.A.
