Charged $36.00 for 2 windshield wipers that wouldn't pass inspection. They worked fine yesterday, today they were ripped - how convenient.

New York Inspection for a 1 year old Dodge Truck w/5800 miles.

They said my windshield wipers wouldn't pass inspection because they were both ripped. Funny, they worked fine yesterday during a torrential downpour.

They charged me $20.00 labor and $15.92 for the 2 blades, for a total of $35.92, plus the $14.00 for the inspection.

I'm sure they ripped my blades intentionally, because they were fine yesterday during the downpour. Not one streak across my windshield while in use.

I have a 93 acura legend with 98000 miles on it, it is a very well kept car, I just had a major tuning done 3 months before the inspection was dued by Acura dealer. And I always put premium 93 octane gas. Always drive high-way miles and only had about 8000 miles since last inspection. The mistake I made was going to a Mobil service gas station at Jamaica queens when my inspection sticker had already expired the day before! Let me tell you, these tough inspection law only gives these ripoff machanics more reason to rip people off. I was told it wouldn't pass based on the year and the mileage! These scums machanics tried to beat my car down first then make me spend money to fix it. Since my inspection sticker had already expired I told them to fix the problem to make it pass... so they brought out the calculator and gave me a price of 400 bucks to have spark plugs replaced and their connecting wires replaced. I told them I just had that done but they simply strugged! All these were last year, since then I bought a 99 acura car and just a few days ago, I had the inspection done, I learn to go there near closing so they won't have a chance to put pressure on me for fixing any fake repairs and leaving the car. They did pass the inspection but only after telling me all these stupid things like one wheel is missing one lug nut. I finally found out why he said all that and it was because he wanted me to bring my car here from now on for any work done, ...he was trying to make it look like he was doing me a favor by passing the inspection. I know people may say hey he could've said something major but I already told him beforehand that I have my own mechanic for any repairs ... so instead he tried to make me bring my car to this fake scum mechanic now!

If an auto shop was going to damage your vehicle to fail the safety inspection, it is pretty doubtful they would choose something as low profit as windshield wipers. Just because they worked the day before does not mean they could not have been damaged between then and the inspection. Also, wipers work better in "torrential downpour" then they do using the washer function (how most wipers are checked)

I hope this helps.
