A response about what happened to your Store Manager. 5 years ago my husband was a store manager with Petsmart. He had just gotten a great visit, evaluation and really good raise. We were two weeks away from getting our year end bonus check. No warning they walked in and fired him.
We found out that he was not the only one they fired, they also fired 10 other stores managers in Mississippi, Alabama and Texas. Honey it was all about the money. Your store manager's salary was to high and he was doing his job and making his bonuses. Petsmart is famous for this. It is the quickest way for them to improve their bottom line not to mention the bonus checks for DM's. They are a crap company and if you can find other empolyment you need to do it.
