We purchased a Shiba Inu from Deborah Howington of Show Boat Kennels in March of 2013.  Prior to  purchasing the puppy we went to see it at 3 weeks old.  We  asked to go back to the breeding area to see how it was kept but she said we could not. But from what we COULD see, didn't look too healthy for dog breeding.  We wanted to see the father of the pup but she only brought up the mother.  She has tons of other dogs all over the place of many different breeds.  We should have known better because she had way too many to make sure they are cared for properly.

Skipping to the day we picked up the pup.  She claimed to have vaccinated him, but decided that weining him at 7 weeks was best.  She made sure to pre-warn us of him having some disease called coccidia (which I'd never heard of befor, my first time buying from a breeder), but said once we took him to the vet, he'd be treated and be fine.

Once we took him to the vet, sure enough he has Coccidia, which was caused by him being kept in unclean conditions and I received a slap on the wrist from my vet.  Well, my pup is over a year old now and it seems that he has tendencies to to vomit from time to time a yellowish liquid, which he has done quite frequently thoughout the time we've had him. Please, Please, Please do your home work before spending a lot of your hard earned cash on someone's half bred dogs.  This was my first time and in the future I will not give any deposits for puppies that I can't visit their breeding area or see both parents.  If you're looking for a Shiba Inu, look past Show Boat Kennels because you will be stuck with a sick puppy.
