Deck Renewal and More is the worst company we have dealt with in the history of owning our home. Our experience started over a year ago in June of 2008. We saw glossy ads and fantastic claims about their exlusive 3 step process that was guaranteed to beautify and extend the life of our deck. The company was very quick to come to our home within 2 days of inquiring into an estimate for our deck and front porch. They were also very quick to take our first initial down payment of $500.

The sales representative told us that the work would start in 6 to 8 weeks. We waited patiently all summer for our work to be done so we could enjoy our deck. We heard nothing and finally called the company in mid August. They told us they were very behind in work that summer due to the amount of rain. My husband is a golf course superintendent and he knew very well we were having a drier than average summer and rain should not be an issue.

After placing several phone calls inquiring about our service the company then sent out someone to wash and strip our deck. They then very quickly took the next $500 of their payment. We thought this was a sign our work would be completed soon. Well week after week came and went and we placed many phone calls to the company with no one returning our calls. Then in September we received a letter saying that they were behind on work on the year and our work would be completed the next spring in 2009.

Our deck sat all winter stripped and not complete.

When spring came we called to inquire yet again for when we would have our work complete. I made over seven phone calls and not a one was returned. Finally when we did get a call back they assured us we were second on the list of jobs to complete. It has now been a complete year later and our deck staining was completed in June- not the spring that was promised but the beginning of summer. The crew had to come out yet again to wash off the deck again in which we got about a half hour notice. Every time work was done we were expected to clear all of our furniture off the deck.

When the crew came to stain the deck they did a horrible job- uneven- not staining all the way in the corners or in between the planks of the porch. Luckily by this time a year later the debit card the company had on file had expired so we with held payment until the work was fixed. We received several phone calls from John- the owner of the franchise- yelling and demanding money and not once apologizing for all of our inconveiniences.

John was unprofessional and rude in every sense of the word and obviously does not care about the customer's experience or feelings. During the entire experience the only time we were every contacted with urgency was when John was demanding final payment. In the end we are done with this process- paid our bill and want everyone to know that this is a company that you should NEVER do business with!

it is unfortunate in life and in business that some people can never be pleased. we have been in business for over 5 years and unfortunately, issues to come up that cannot be controlled 100% of the time. in this situation that kandersen is refering to is for the most part true. we do offer a winter protection solution that is applied in the late fall with the final step, staining done the following spring or early summer. yes early summer as weather impacts our business dramatically. we will not stain wet wood. in kandersens case, it appears that the stain was some what washed off parts of their deck as we tried the best we could to finish their project. we are in the process of servicing the deck but we have experienced the wettest summer in our companies history. the one thing we will not tolerate is extreme rudeness from a customer. kandersen took extreme exception when we asked to be paid. it is the Anmerican way, to get paid. kandersen was in violation of her contractred agreement stating that these payments were due the day of completion. if it is harrasment to ask for payment then I guess we are guilty of that. we will service their project dispite their contempt.
