My wife was wanting to trade her vehicle for a car that is a little more fuel efficient than the '01 Chrysler minivan that she drives daily to work.

We went to Deery Bros to check out their cars and settled on a new Pontiac Vibe.

Now this Chrysler is an excellent driver, always garaged, maintained(I'm a mechanic by trade)and never hurt in anyway. I run Mobil-1 in it, change all of the fluids regularly. It averages 20mpg with its V6 city/hwy. The front brakes are new, the rear brakes aren't ready for replacement. New battery last fall. I replaced the original Goodyear Integrity tires at 70,000 miles when they still had ample tread life and no apparent defects. The new Premium Tiger Paw Touring tires now have 3,000 miles on them. This car is nice as you'll find, never beaten up.

The price of the Vibe was a "Red Tag Special" at just under $18,000. When we went into the office, I was ready to sign them a check and drive off in a new car. After the the sales manager laid out the numbers, I got immediately upset. The price of the vibe shot up to $20,000 and he offered, us $2,100 for our trade. The manager guy was an arrogant jerk. I told him he was nuts and left their lot never to return.

It was a total waste of our time.

We would love an opportunity to re-evaluate your trade

After seeing this post we would love the opportunity to re-evaluate the trade in.  I can guess what happened regarding the price, however without the opportunity to look at the deal again this would be impossible to know without doubt.  Many times when a vehicle is advertised all rebates are applied, however they are regional incentives from the manufacturers and not everyone qualifies for every incentive.  I would always encourage consumers to read the fine print at the bottom of all advertised prices at this dealership or any other.  We work very dilengently to ensure all prices have a disclaimer stating that not all customers will qualify for all incentives, as the manufacturers that provide incentives do not offer them all to everyone.  Regarding this particular customer I really have not idea if the amount offered for their van was a fair price or not as I do not know the amount of miles on the vehicle or what the price guide books have for values and in addition to what the actual market was at the time of the contact.  Please contact me directly for any questions or concerns.  I would love to help, unfortunately I did not know there was a problem as I was not contacted by the customer.
