Del Taco does not follow any of the labor laws or regulations San Pedro California
I worked at del taco for one month. The little time that I was there they failed to follow proper health regulations. They also violated a lot of labor laws. I can list quite a few of them.
1)There is a law for minors who work. they are not allowed to work past 11 p.m. on a day before school and before 5 am. Well Del Taco has minors work the graveyard shift which is 12 midnight until 8 am. The manager knows that she can not have this happen. But she does it regardless.
2)Most workplaces are required to give you at least a 5 hour break between shifts. Well at this particular place they expect you to be able to work from 12 midight until 7 p.m. (19 hours)with only one 30 minute break and then come back in 4 hours later.
3)It is a law that when you fire some one you are required to have thier final paycheck on thier last day of work. well they fired me on Dec. 27, 2005 it is now Jan. 4, 2006 and i have not recieved my final paycheck.
4)It is also required that the employer informs an employee that they have been terminated. Well, needless to say, i was not informed until i physically went there. i had tried calling but they never answer the phone.
5)From what I understand, when perparing food of any sort you are supposed to wear gloves. Well the only time that they use gloves is when they put the chicken to cook. they touch the tortillas then they touch the meat then they touch the condoments. all without wearing gloves.
6)When a coustomer is ordering the cashiers will wait for the coustomer to decide what to order but while waiting they start to complain to the other employees that the coustomer is taking to long. Though the manager may be there they will countine to act in this manner.
So I advise anyone who goes to the Del Taco in San Pedro, CA. to please stop going. Because aside from all the things that i listed i decided to eat lunch there one day and i got sick off of the food the food always taste old and nasty! please do not go there.

One and a half hours after eating their fish tacos I got a terrible diarrhea. I know that it was their food that caused it since I had no food before and after going to this establishment. I won't go there again.

All complaints have to be in writing.
Most agencies, including the corporate office will not even take phone calls for complaints.
Research your contact info online and write a professional letter.

i have also tried calling the labor board but they are not any help. so i will write up letters of complait and send them to the important people. the problem with Del Taco is that it is a franchise and they told me that there is no one else to talk to but the manager. well i have tried talking to her and she just blows me thinking that i wont do anything about it. well i'm not the type to just deal with it. if any one else has any suggestions as to what else i can do please let me know.

Sandra,
Sit down and start writing letters of complaint to the labor board and the health dept, and also to Del taco corporate.
Write a separate letter on each violation.
Send copies to the "Manager" you spoke of.
Don't let them get away with it, but also do not b***h about it unless you are willing to do something about it!
