Delightfulpuppies - Persis Shafer ripoff sick puppies for sale no refund no call back Dalton Wisconsin
We purchased a beautiful little Yorkie named Darla from delightful puppies Dalton WI. 53926. From a woman named Persis Shafer. She was kind and helpful working with us to get Darla shipped to us in Massachussettes. Two days after we got Darla she was diagnosed with a high grade heart murmer. We called Persis and she told us Darla was NOT born with this and she thought maybe the flight did it to her ( our vet said that is untrue)--We came to the arrangement with Persis that we would wait a few months and see if Darla outgrew this.
Unfortunately she did not and needed an ultrasound--she was diagnosed with Pulmonic Stenosis---We were told she WAS BORN with this and will die probably before she is 1 year (she in now 5 1/2 months old and we LOVE her dearly. We contacted Persis about this by e-mail--she responded with and e-mail asking /what would you like us to do/ We told her Darla WAS born with this heart problem and sold to us that way/ meaning she sold us a puppy that would die shortly. We asked for a refund of the $1000.00 we brought her with and the money we paid for her plane fare/ we told her this woyld go towards the $3000.00 surgery Darla needs to have a chance at life (without the surgery she will die) We explained we cannot afford this surgery.
Since the last e-mail She will NOT return our e-mails or phone calls. We fear she will not at all. We decided to write up this rip off report afer reading ANOTHER one posted about her. If Persis gets back to us and returns our money we will gladly post an update on this, but we dont believe that will happen at this point. Todays date 6/20/06

#3Consumer Suggestion

I am sorry to hear about your sitution. I have a suggestion. Is your puppy AKC registered? If so, file a complaint with them. The AKC has very strick rules that govern all members. If the AKC finds that this person has broken their charter laws, they can be BANNED. Meaning that they could never register another puppy with them. And for anyone in the business of making money from puppies, this would cause them much grief. Perhaps that could be a leverage tool, in getting your money refunded. Good Luck!

I will keep you and your little one in my thoughts as you go through your days. I know they will be tough. I hope they post this. I don't have your e-mail, as I would have e-mailed you this instead. I can tell you that in just 9 days I fell so deeply in love with my little puppy Taytor Bug, and it still breaks my heart every time I think of what she went through during her only 2 1/2 months here. I can honestly say that I gave her 9 days of the most devoted, love filled days she had EVER experienced!
It just shocks me to know that there are people that will treat animals like that just for money. I do have Goofy in tip top health now. We have spent over $2,000 in the process.
I would like to see all the puppies get homes, but all the new homes be fore-warned that chances are they will be sick in one way or another, but if they have the finances, and the patience, they can have a very sweet baby. They also need to know to negotiate the price and the "health guarantee". That thing is a joke! Read that VERY carefully!! It is double talk. You are not covered with anything in that "health guarantee". My vet just rolled her eyes, and sneered.
I hope that you can save your little one, as there was not enough fore-warning for us to save Taytor Bug. She was so little that there wasn't enough there for her to fight with for too long. She did the best she could, but at 1 lb. it would have had to have been diagnosed right away, and Persis never took the time to look into why she wasn't as big as her siblings and why she wasn't eating, etc. This also would have been caught if she was taking care of the mother. There is a 99.999% chance that the mother is the one who transmitted it to Taytor Bug in the first place.
There is no way she contracted it (I hope you and all know that I am talking about COCCIDIA) from my home as she was taken to the vet right away. Goofy was taken to the vet straight from getting her from Persis. Both had Coccidia, different litters, different birthdates. Coccidia has a shedding cycle and at times may not show when testing is done. So, if your little one is out of sorts and the fecal test shows nothing, you should do a follow up fecal in 1 week to be sure. This was the case with Taytor.
I am sorry to clutter this up, but I feel this is very important to all.
I do want these little ones to have homes, they need homes, they need love, they need medical attention, but know going into it that you will be putting money into them so negotiate the price and make sure that you negotiate the health guarantee to cover yourself.
Stay informed. Puppies are adorable. Your heart will attach to it and it will be hard to negotiate, but keep in mind what has been posted and all of the things that haven't.
To the EDitor, I hope that you will allow this to be posted as I feel this needs to be heard. I am the other one that has posted about Persis. As much as I would like to see her out of business, I also would like to see the little pups get the loving homes they deserve. Through this, someday justice will prevail. The puppies will have their revenge. When that day happens, I will spend the money to be there personally to see it happen. I wouldn't miss it for the world. I want to see justice for Taytor Bug and all the pain she suffered, both before I got her and after. As hard as I tried along with my vet for those 9 days, we just could not overcome that coccidia. I also want to see just for Goofy, as she didn't even know what grass was, or a leash or a doorway was when I got her. How sad is that?
It will happen. But without postings, no one will know the full understanding. I am asking that you please post this.
In closing, I do hope Darla pulls through and makes your home happier than you ever could have imagined. If it happens that she departs, she will keep a special place with you always. Make this experience one to teach others, both about Persis and "breeders" like her. Educate them on Pulmonic Stenosis and also Coccidia. You would be surprised how many people this information will help. Anyone who loves their animals appreciates knowing a little more about the diseases, illnesses, and frauds out there.
Sheryl, if you would like to e-mail me, you can search for me via yahoo. I would love to hear updates and keep in touch. I know this isn't a "posting board", so I hope to hear from you.
Good luck, to you and to all that give the little ones from delightfulpups/delightfulpets a home.
