Bought new Dell 4300s desktop computer 12-6-01 by phone, saleperson sandy nichols. three different ship dates in one week. e-mailed salesperson 3 times. never an anseer. wrote letter to CEO michael dell and cys to sales and customer service. never an answer. it did get my computer delivered however. never got rebate form that was promised. tried calling but could not talk to live person. each time was given e-mail. e-mailed several times and never a response. finally sent very strong e-mail threatening to file complaint and withing two hours got rebate form on e-mail now having several problems with my new computer. computer has one year warranty, both online, e-mail and in home service.

tried calling tech support and got several menus, each time telling me to e-mail tech support. never could talk to live person. e-mailed on 1-2-02, got automated response saying it had been received and someone would contact me withing 24 hours. no contact. e-mailed again on 1-4-02, same automated response, but no further response. again i e-mailed on 1-6-02 and threatened to file complaint if someone did not contact me and help with warranty problems. NO RESPONSE.

so, i have a brand new computer from DELL that has problems, has a one year warranty that is USELESS. The CEO will not respond to letters, neither will sales or customer service. sales, customer service or tech support will not respond to request for help.

John, there is probably a good reason that that sales rep has not returned your calls. She probably wound up like me and was terminated. Dell is the most greedy company in the world. They opened up offices here in Nashville, TN doing the same thing they do in Austin, TX - Most of Dell's employees are NOT Dell employees at all. They work through a temp agency, one mostly used called Spherion in which they hire temps for 90 days, keep them, and let them go. This way they dont have to pay benefits and etc... Here in Nashville there are two Spherion Temp offices which are 100% dedicated to DELL only, they are NOT used for anything else or any other company, JUST DELL. Dell is sooooo very crooked and evil its not even funny. The things they tried to teach me and tell me to do were just so morally wrong. If you dont have enough service plans sold which are extended warranties, or add on items such as a printer, camera, or etc.. then you will be terminated via your temp agency Sherion. One day while working, through Spherion of course on my team, nothing but Spherion reps, or course it was time for my whole team to go on a 15 min. break and I was on the phone with a customer trying to sell a computer in hopes of one day getting to be hired on by Dell fulltime, which is near impossible. So my whole team went on break and I was still on the phone with a customer telling them about all the different lines, models, types, and time went by, 15 minutes passed, and my team comes back from their break, and I am still on the phone with this customer. After I get off the phone with the customer, I ask the Coach on the team who assists the manager of the team who works for Dell if I could go on break because I was unable to go because I was on the phone with a customer. He tells me that I need to priortize my calls and manage my time better, and tells me to go on break, but the next time that I won't get one. I swear to GOD and my life that this is true and fact, and will so wear on a stack of Bibles on this one. All Dell does is provide false hopes about a secure job. It is one of the most stressful jobs I have ever had in my entire life. Everytime one of those Spherion Reps comes over to your section and you see them coming you have a quick panic attack and think are you next to be fired? Kinda like the same feeling are you going to be the lucky feeder mouse to get fed to the snake. After my 3 month trial basically with Dell, One Friday morning I get pulled into a room, they shut the door and precede to tell me that my numbers are low and Dell wants my assignment to end with the temp agency. I had never ever been fired before from a job, I sat there for the longest crying my eyes out unable to figure what I did wrong. The only thing you could do is to ask God to help you get the strength to pull through it. This was 4 years ago this happened to be back in 2001, and believe it or not but I am starting to cry now as I write this because I have and still have friends that I cant warn in time not to go there and have this to happen to them. I dont know how the Execs and CEO of Dell and Spherion can sleep with themselves at night doing this to people. Dell rates you on whats called metrics and close rates. Your close rate is how many computers you sold divided by the number of incoming calls you received. You cannot control your incoming calls because some calls could be an acutal customer wanting to buy a computer, you could get wrong numbers, transfer extensions, someone needing tech support, someone needing to talk about their financing bill, or calls dropped and all that counts against you. It is near impossible for EVERYONE working for DELL to deliver what they want. I would like to talk to you JOHN OF WILSON, NC off of here and on the phone, here is my e-mail you can contact me at IBM4690@AOL.COM and maybe we could chat.

Dell Systems Good or Bad..

#7Consumer Suggestion

Although I do not work for Dell computers or any company that is associated with them. I do local tech support in the Austin Texas area. They have the highest complaint rating in our area. At first we tried not to get in between them and their customers, not that we fear Dell or their Law Firm (Yes, their own law firm). It is just we believe they should honor the warranty. That is why we provide secondary support for the individual who purchased the equipment. We can't afford to provide free support due to the volume of call's on dell equipment that we recieve. Here would be a small fix to the issue at hand:

1. Do your home work when looking for a computer, just because they have great advertising doesn't mean they have great tech support.

2. Check with a local pc shop to see if you can get a warranty through them for certain computers (We provide this service to our customers)

3. When you purchasing your equipment ask to see if they will allow local support. (Some do believe it or not).

My Note: I am a Dell Certified System Expert, A
+, MCSA (Techie for I am fully trained and certified)

PS... Dell OptiPlex systems are very solid equipment, I personally own one (I just don't use their tech support).

Personally, I wish all Dell users happy computing.

Dell Problem

#7Consumer Comment

Fri, November 26, 2004

I've had a Dimension 4550 for two (2) years now. The biggest problem that I have had, was trying to get someone in the U.S.A. to answer the phone. But someone someplace always answers. Whenever I have had problems with my computer,I called Dell, gave them the "tag number", followed all the promps as far as what button to push and when I got off the phone, I've always felt as if my questions have been answered, and the problems have always been fixed.

Great hint to reach customer service call 1-800-624-9897 ext 66966 when the main menu comes on press option 1,4,4 this will take you straight to a live person. In need of tech support 1-800-624-9897 ext 66955 then it will ask you to enter your service tag number if you do not know it stay on the line and it will bypass that.

JP - You gave a GREAT example of the customer service support a Dell customor receives when calling you ... keep up the good work, you will most certainly ensure you and your peers future layoff as Dell Corp will go down the drain as just one more failed company - because of poor service.

If you will be patient with the prompts and follow them CORRECTLY you will get to a technical support person like myself who will be glad to help you. DO NOT USE EMAIL! You will get no satisfaction. Call and talk to a person. If you dont have patience you wont get help. I know that if you follow the phone prompts correctly you will get to an individual on the phone. I take 30 calls a day so somebody is doing it right. Give us a call. We'll be glad to help.
