I ordered an Inspiron 1501 notebook computer and paid in full with my Visa card. Before my computer arrived Dell sent me an email advertisement for the SAME COMPUTER CONFIGURED WITH A BIGGER HARD DRIVE AND BETTER CD/DVD DRIVE FOR $100 LESS!

Because of this I emailed Dell and asked for a merchandise credit (not cash or credit back) instead of cancelling my current order then reorder for the better configured and better priced computer.

While waiting for Dell's response my computer arrived but I wasn't too concerned because this seemed like a simple problem that would be resolved to my satisfaction, after all this a major company. WRONG!

THEY SAID NO! I couldn't believe it.

I stated you would rather me cancel my order or return your computer? (even with shipping and re-stocking fee I would save money and get a better configured system).

They didn't care. I tried going up the ladder of employees with phone calls and emails but got the same responses. Guess I'll return the computer instead of letting them treat customers so bad. Any major company like Circuit City, Best Buy, Staples, Office Depot, etc. would make this right.

Lesson learned. Always buy from a major store where it's easy to return items.

Dell Sends $50 Coupon as Promised

Just a wrap-up of my original post that Dell fulfilled everything they promised including my $50 coupon good for any merchandise they sell. I'm a little surprised but extremely satisfied considering my original problems with their customer service reps. concerning prices was so hard to resolve.

DELL MAKES GOOD ON PRICING POLICY 30 MINUTES AFTER FILING REPORT

About 30 minutes after filing my original report, DELL agreed to refund me $100 back to my credit card and also give me a $50 credit coupon on any of DELL'S merchandise. I guess my complaint finally got to the right person.

I am now satisfied with DELL and would gladly do business with them again due to their commitment to be fair regarding their pricing policy.

By the way, the computer was delivered fast and is working perfect.

I will report back after I actually receive my refund and credit coupon.
