Dell Computer sells at least 10 models of laptops with a known defective NVIDIA graphics chip.  Because of a known defect in the design of the chip, it will eventually lead to system failure.

Dell has acknowledged the issue, but provides a very weak consumer response. A simple 1 year warranty extension is insufficient to protect the consumer from a faulty product.

Further, they did not inform me of the defect prior to warranty expiration.

The BIOS "fix" reduces battery life and increases the noise, resulting in a degraded product experience - much less than advertised.

Because of this design flaw, these products have a usable life of 2 years or less - much less than advertised.

Because the unit is just over 2 years old, Dell customer support wanted $49 to tell me what to do next which is probably to buy an extended warranty for the unit.  The only fix for this issue is to replace the defective motherboard.

The "Customer Support" person, Amit Kumar, was rude and cut me off several times as i attempted to understand why Dell thought they could treat consumers this way.

Dell should recall these models and offer a complete refund.
