I bought a laptop from Dell on December of 2005.  I went through their financing department for the purchase because it was Christmas and I was a little short of money because of the holidays.  I proceeded to pay the purchase off in January with a full payment before the 30 days were up.

A month went by and got an invoice from Dell Financial Services stating that I had a balance.  I called them up and asked them why I had a balance on the account if I paid it off, they said that it was for the financing.  Bottom line is that I told them that I paid the balance off and that I was not going to pay them for financing charges if I pay before the 30 days were up.  They sent me to collection and the $17 financing charge turned into $300. Not only that but they made sure the balance stayed on my record by manipulating the dates from January of 2006 that I made the payment to September of 2008.

I'm very disappointed on the way they treat their customers and the way they conduct business.  I'm not complaining about the quality of the laptop but rather their financing department and their accounting.  Come on, if I paid the entire purchase why did they send me to collection because of their bad accounting and poor financing practices?  Is not like they make money on the financing, their forte is computers.  

I ended up paying the balance because I'm in the process of buying a home.  Paying $300 right now hurt my finances, especially in this economic environment.  I will never buy from them again and I'll make sure I'll tell everyone of my experience.  PEOPLE STAY AWAY FROM BUYING "DELL" AND DON'T DEAL WITH DISHONEST PEOPLE.
