Delta Air Lines, Inc., delta airlines Ripped off extortion of $100 at gate for 12 year old travelling with 16 year old sibling charlotte , North Carolina
We booked our tickets on line with Delta reservation system for a 16 year old and 12 years old. The system sold us the tickets and boarding passes with no issue. This morning at the gate, te airline person stopped my kids from boarding, demanded for me to pay $100 fee making them missed the flight and they had to take the next flight. This causes my children emotional distress, inconvenience, and exhorts $100 from me at the airport. I decided to pay in order for my children not to have missed their Easter Holiday trip but I am determined to protest and report this obvious scam to the public and others. If there is a ridiculous amount of $100 fee charged to a 12 year old travelling with a 16 years old with a regular driver's license, this amount should be posted at ticket purchase time and not at the gate. Other airlines do not charge this fee AT ALL. I am reguesting a $150 refund for the fee plus additional expense.

Here is the information directly from Delta's website regarding the charging of unaccompanied minor fees: http://www.delta.com/planning_reservations/special_travel_needs/services_for_children/children_traveling_alone/index.jsp
Important to note: Children under 15 must travel under this program unless accompanied by an adult 18 years of age or older. The 16 year old is not considered a adult for this purpose. If you have questions, contact the airline directly.
Other airlines charge this fee as well.
