Our son was scheduled to leave Omaha NE on flight #3841 3/18/11  the flight was cancelled due to mechanical problems. The next flight would've made him late for his connecting flight. He's in the United States Marines and was due back in Japan 3/21/11. He left on 3/19/11  he still would've made it on time if he wasn't kicked off flight 7749 because he didn't have an actual passport. He had his military orders, yet he was escorted off the plane like a criminal then taken to security for 30 minutes. He was then told that he'd have to take flight #2159 which didn't leave for 26 hours! the lady at the desk offered to get Zach a hotel room, she then started giving him fee's for the different hotels.

The people in Omaha NE should've been aware that there was going to be a problem once our son got to Tokyo and with his connecting flight. Our son sat in Tokyo's airport for 26 hours with no food, nothing to drink and nowhere to sleep. Zach didn't make it to Okinawa to report for duty on time, which cost him a day of leave. The least Delta Air Lines can do is refund him 1/2 his flight cost and one day's compensation for him being stranded in Tokyo for 26 hours. After contacting Delta a woman (in an email) told me the only thing they could do is give Zach a $250 voucher that expires in one year. Zach is in Japan, he has no use for a voucher that will expire before he leaves. We don't want a voucher, we want 1/2 his flight cost reimbursed.
