On Sept. 18th of 2006 I gave them $1070 as a downpayment on an estimate of $3000 to replace an interior door knob, clean gutters, replace an Anderson Window Crank unit, spackle and tape a portion of the ceiling, put down 2 x 4 section of supplied hardwood flooring, replace a dishwasher gasket and replace a front door threshold. The estimate was for 3 days work @ $370.00/day plus $300 in material.

Two days later he cleaned the gutters and replaced an interior door knob and my 40' aluminum extension ladder went missing. Then I didn't see him again. I hired someone on Nov. 27th to complete the work. They came out two days later and completed all of the above plus additional items.

Denny Antonious claims I owe $190 for the gutters they cleaned and $145 for the Anderson Window crank unit he had to special order (the 2nd guy went to Home Depot and purchased the window crank for $45.00). Denny Antonious claims he can only pay me back $150 a month and I owe him for travel time. I would never have hired them if they told me it would take better than 12 weeks to get the work completed. They have my house key and now I also have to get my locks changed. They were referred to me through Service Magic.

Small Job Specialists agreed to refund a portion of the deposit as a complaint was made through Service Magic. They refunded $690.00 of the $1070 paid. I had no choice but accept whatever was offered or would not get any of it back. I didn't mind paying them for the parts ($132.75) which meant I paid $247.25 to have them clean two gutters of a 1200 sq. ft. house. Youch! I still wouldn't use them again as work is not quoted out by task but lumped all together i.e. if I knew I was going to pay that much to have gutters cleaned, I wouldn't have agreed to it. But I did receive money back against my original downpayment and the final payment was received in January of 2007 - original contract was signed in September 2006.
