Recently I had quite a shock when I was sitting in the dental chair at Dentalworks. I was told I had Periodontal disease! For someone like myself that flosses and brushes religiously, and is always being complimente on my tooth care this was very disturbing news. I see the dentist every 6 months so how could this have developed so fast?

Well-guess what? It didn't. My second opinion Dentist, without being told what I was looking for gave my gums a clean bill of health. When he was finished with the exam I specifically asked him about my gums and he said that there was a little bit more sinking into the gums at the very back of my mouth, but that was to expected at my age and certainly not disease.

While I was still in the chair with the hygienist at Dentalworks she had already laid out an extremely extensive and EXPENSIVE plan for my future as far as disease treatment went. I just let her talk because I had already decided to seek a second opinion and I suspected it wasn't going to be as dire as she painted it. I got permission from my insurance carrier, yes I have insurance, and proceeded to have the second opinion.

The second dentist also said he could fill a cavity that Dentalworks told me was a "total" loss and a crown would have to be put there.

I don't know if it's because Dentalworks is a chain company and have quotas to meet, but people need to know that even though they have great hours, operate in convenient shopping malls, they must beware of being told they need work that they actually don't. Why should I rip off my insurance company? And why should I pay a co-pay on something that doesn't need to be done, when I've been laid off like so many thousands of people around this country?

This group like most other Dentist, will not contribute and take a few WI title 19 patients. It seems Dentists, cant give a little of their time to help out children in poverty. May your greed and unethical actions be your demise! sorry, the State cant pay you enough *ss holes!
