I have received several phone calls stating that a legal matter has been assigned to them and if I disregard this message all he can do is wish me good luck with all of the back luck to come.

He states his name is Officer Mike Walter and the number that shows up on my caller id 916-395-0000 states that that number is not assigned.  The number he leaves me in his message 970-814-0700 says this number can not be completed as dialed and yes I put a 1 in front of it.

He has called several times a month over the past 6 months and I have yet been able to get in touch with him.  He is of foreign decent possible India..and he always seems to call when I am at work so I have not been able to directly answer the phone.

He even called a friend of mine's telephone once and told her to inform me that the police would be at my door.

I am totally convienced that this is a scam since none of the numbers are ligit and I have even attempted to call information to inquire of the name and they said no listing and I asked about the numbers and they said they do not exsist.

Any help you could give me in this matter would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thank you

As a matter of fact just got off the phone with my friend who was having this problem. If you took out a loan thru Cash America or similar company go ahead and contact them for more info. Evidently this group obtained client information somehow and has been contacting individuals directly even though the account was never turned over to collections. You should obtain whatever information you have and file a report. Check out the FCRA website for info.

File a police report, then setup "call trace" on your acct

The obvious solution is to NEVER answer a call from a # you do not know. ALWAYS let them go you voicemail! That is why you have it, and it gives you evidence!

They are obviously calling from a "spoofed" number via internet calling. This is VERY common. HOWEVER, they CAN be traced by law enforcement. You may have to stretch the truth a bit in your police report on the level of the threat.

File a police report and be sure to have the EXACT times they called from your caller id, and all other name and number info. Be sure to tell the cops how the caller made you "fear for your life", etc. Just say they said they were "coming for you" or something like that. Be sure to identify that they said they were law enforcement. This escalates the priority of your complaint.

After you have your copy of the police report, contact your phone company and file a complaint with them, and then request that a call trace be established on your line so law enforcement can track the offenders. This is costly for them to do, and they may try to talk you out of it. Stand your ground.

Keep in mind that impersonating a law enforcement officer is a FELONY.

Now, cross file all complaints with the FTC, State AG, FBI, etc. Send your complaint to every agency you can. This aids in prosecution of other cases that may come up.

STAY OFF THE PHONE!!

The caller is a scammer. If the caller calls again imform him you know he is a scammer and if he calls again you will report him to the FTC. I would also tell him to go f-- himself as well
