I own an auto repair shop and deal with several dealerships. I had to call the local Audi parts department for parts. I did not second guess the pricing untill I had called my customers warranty company and found out the Audi delaership here in Las Vegas was slamming the pricing. When the parts manager called me back he could careless and that is how they do business.

Just another note. All of the Desert Automotive Group dealerships do the same thing. I have closed all of my accounts with Desert Toyota, Desert Nissan and now will never do and business with Desert Audi.

The Las Vegas valley Desert Automotive Group dealerships are rip offs, and they do not care. If you need a part from a dealership call a Desert dealership and compair with any other dealership you will find it is about 20% less or more from any other dealership

It is ok for you to mark up prices but not someone else?

Your complaint has no merit. With you being a shop owner, you also do mark ups on the parts that you install on your customers cars. Everyone marks up their products. From the start at the manufacturing plant, each business that handles the product, marks up the cost as it gets passed along. The only one that does not do a mark up is the end user.

Maybe your biggest anger is due to the fact that you could not do a higher mark up because it was already extremely expensive. Maybe you could have gotten it at a lower cost somewhere else. You will know better next time. Shop around. There is no doubt that you have had customers point out to you that the could have gotten the part themselves for 30-40% less than what your charged them for the part, not counting labor. All shops mark up prices. It is capitalism.
