Complaint Review: Dex Media

Dex Media - Rich Baldwin Incompetent, not customer focused, pushy, dishonest Englewood Colorado

My recent experience with Dex Media was horrible.  I had advertised with them for a decade . . . . . but the sales rep assigned to me this year was my reason for terminating my relationship with Dex.

The rep, RB, refused to hear that I was not looking for increased services or products.  He continued to send proposals that included extra items for extra money.  He was not prompt in calling when he said he would and had many excuses for his negligence.  He lied to his boss about phone calls to me that were never made.

The entire process of discussing my marketing plan for 2014 was an ordeal.  I finally got fed up with RB and cancelled my relationship with Dex for 2014.  Although RB phoned me to acknowledge my cancellation, he now denies this and in fact my service didn't get cancelled and I am being billed.

Although the majority of sales reps I've worked with at Dex have been a bit pushy regarding services, RB was by far the worst - he absolutely didn't listen to me regarding my business needs and disregarded my requests.  He did not return calls or send proposals when he said he would.  He has lied to his boss in emails cc'd to me, to cover his a$#.

Because of RB's disregard and incompetence I am now being billed $2000 for services that I cancelled.  RB's boss has not responded to my email concerns.  The claims rep I spoke to said there is nothing she can do regarding the billing.

My summary of Dex Media:  NOT customer focused, negligent, arrogant, dishonest and in it only for the money.

Dex Media "made things right"

I am happy to report that I am satisfied that my concerns with Dex Media have been addressed and made right.  I wrote a letter to Dex explaining my negative experience, which I had written about in my review here in Ripoff Report.  I received a prompt call back, from a very professional, customer focused gentleman.  My concerns were listened to and resolved in a  satisfactory manner.   I retract my blanket statement about Dex Media as a whole.

This is Rhonda O'Brien writing.  I read with great interest the negative review about myself and my services; it is quite clear to me that this is not a truthful account of any client I have ever worked with.  Several things in the review tipped me off to this.

1.  This person states they were referred to me by someone who works for me.  I am a sole proprietor and have no employees.

2.  This person states that they paid for my "program" upfront.  I do not offer a weight loss program, as weight loss dieting goes against my non-diet/HAES philosophy.  In fact, I don't offer any programs that require payment "upfront".

3.  The person states they felt like they were being preached at about eating healthy food.  As any of my long term clients could attest, "preaching about eating healthy food" is about the furthest from my counseling style that one could get.

4.  The person states thay asked for their money back and were denied.  I have never had a client ask for a refund, but if this did occur, I would listen to their concerns and consider their request.

5.  The author chose to remain "anonymous", yet they claim to have spoken with me about their dissatisfaction.  If this were true, there would be no reason to withhold their name.

6.  The reviewer states that they have "followed proven programs that have worked before" -  if so, there wouldn't seem to be a reason to have sought out another "program".

I could point out more inconsistencies, but will close with this:  if this "reviewer" has a concern or problem with the nutrition counseling services they received from me, I wholeheartedly encourage them to phone my office and talk to me about it rather than writing an anonymous review on the internet.
