Dexter Tenison invited me to join an invitation-only fitness program as part of the Memphis Adventure Bootcamp.  I paid the full amount about two weeks before I intended to start the class because I was already taking advantage of a month long training program with his organization.  On the last day of the program that I was in, prior to beginning the new program, I notified Dexter that I would have to cancel.  After a few days, when I had not received my refund, I contacted Dexter again to ask that he send me the refund.  It was then that Dexter told me via email that I would not be receiving a refund.  Dexter refused to pay my refund of nearly $300 owed, for a program that I never even began!

I never signed a contract and nothing that Dexter included either in the information that he sent me, told me or had printed on his website, indicated that he had a no-refund policy for this or any of his fitness programs.  I feel that Dexter is being injust and unfair.  I feel that I have been deceived and defrauded by Dexter Tenison.  I gave Dexter every opportunity to do the right thing.  I even mentioned to him that I had read on his website in the FAQs that refunds would be given if requested PRIOR to starting the program, which was when I cancelled.  However, Dexter said that this did not apply to the program for which I intended to participate.  When I asked him where I could find any info about this no-refund policy, he simply did not respond to this.  When I told him that it did not exist, he did not deny it.

Dexter says that he is interested in the wellfare of his clients and that he is interested in helping them become fit, and in holding them accountable.  However, based on my experience wit Dexter, it is my opinion that while Dexter Tenison SAYS that he is interested in health and well being for his clients, Dexter is seems to be far more interested in money.  As I see it, his actions are a reflection of GREED, NOT concern, at least as it relates to my dealings with Dexter.  Why would he even want a client to pay for a service that they have no plans of redeeming?  It seems that Dexter makes up the rules of how he runs his business and who and when he will issue refunds, as he goes.  If this is how he runs his business, this is 100% unprofessional.  I feel that I have been ripped off by Dexter Tenison.  May future buyers of Dexter Tenison's fitness and nutrition services and Memphis Adventure Boot Camp participants BEWARE!

Dexter Tenison Paid My Refund, and I Really Appreciate It!

Dexter Tenison and I have been able to work out the situation with the refund.  When we talked, I realized that more than anything, it was a misunderstanding between us.  Dexter, true to his commitment as a personal trainer, believed that by holding on to my payment he could better encourage me to be accountable to the workout program that I initially signed up to take.  I appreciate Dexter's desire to hold me accountable.  However, the circumstances that forced me to have to postpone the bootcamp were beyond my control.  Due to sustained injuries, a new job and family responsibilities, I simply could not do the bootcamp for another six months, no matter how great the deal was.

I sincerely do appreciate Dexter and I know that because he is a very good trainer, the current success that he is having in his business is only a drop in the bucket of what he will have in the future.

I am thankful that Dexter and I have been able to work things out.  I hope that his business will continue to prosper and many others will sign up with Dexter Tenison to get fit!

I Honor My Offer I Made To Client and Still Do

#3REBUTTAL Owner of company

Fri, May 21, 2010

First, I would like to begin that I will and still honor the Ms. Oseis deal I have made with her. She was given six months of my womens only fitness class for $49 a month. This is a 75% savings from what all the other people must pay which is $197 a month. She indicated to me that she would return in a couple of months verbally. In reality, she would be missing $98 if she were to truly honor her word. Of course, since it was verbal, she may deny that she said this and I suppose that is within her right.

I have built my fitness business with integrity since the very beginning. I did so because I saw all the deceit that other trainers were doing each and every day. To this day, I still see trainers doing things that arent built on values of integrity.

I assume everyone that comes to sites such as these realize that this is sort of an extreme site. Its the opposite of the praises you hear and see type of site. Its a site for people to complain. Sometimes it is right, sometimes its just a place for people who didnt get their way or choose to follow through on their end go to simply complain.

Ms. Osei called me back in 2008 when I had an article ran on me about my personal success and then what I do for clients. I literally have helped hundreds of clients change their bodies. When Ms. Osei called me, I made a house consultation. She simply was not able to afford my services at the time. So, what I did was provided her with an email version of a fitness program I created so I could help her as much as possible. I sound like a lying and deceitful person so far huh?

I did not hear from Ms. Osei until this year to join my womens only fitness class. This is a class where I now see over 100 women a day, all very happy and praise the results they are getting and the class format. Ms. Osei joined doing a one time discounted one month. I knew she couldnt afford the full price of $197 and I knew she had been getting results and was pleased with the program. I extended a offer to her to help her stay committed to her fitness goals and she accepted. Mind you, any policies I have for refunds are only for campers paying full price and these polices are not the same when you receive the invitation. You get the discount due to your commitment. Its quite simple. There is no refund policy because there arent refunds for it. As we all know in fitness, its the accountability that most people lack in getting results.

I am quite hurt that Ms. Osei is not looking at the the whole picture. She chooses that use words and comments that are hurtful while she is upset that I didnt refund her with a program that had no refund policy. I still extend my offer for her to join us for the six months and I will continue to honor it because I feel it is the right thing to do.

You are welcome to do a basic search on me and see the several praises, comments, and testimonials I have received since working as a fitness professional. When working with more people, it becomes probable that you will run into some people that will try to do and say things to hurt your personal and professional status. I accept this fact, but I hope you can judge for yourself my integrity. I have had several people who have come to me that have had financial troubles and I have gladly worked with them. If there is a commitment to their fitness, I will do my best to make it work for them. You are welcome to email me personally at dexter@dextertenisonfitness.com and I will gladly provide you will multiple people that have nothing but praises for me and my business throughout its inception.
