DFWDWI Doug Wilder Incompetant, thief, con-artist, egotistic, rip off, misleading, does not listen, does not prepare Dallas, Texas
Douglas Wilder represented me in a DWI case in 2008. I paid him $5000 because he claimed to be the best, and that he felt he could handle the case. I tried many times prior to the trial to discuss the case with him, but he continued to put me off, and never took notes regarding my scenario.
In turn, on the day of court, I was supposed to be seen at 8 am. He asked I be there promptly so we could discuss the case. In effect, he did not show up until after 10 am, and had gone in and made a totally unsatisfactory settlement with the judge without my presence. Why, because he did not even know all the facts. When he came out the first time and told me the decision he had made with the judge, I asked him if he even mention some important facts regarding the case. He forgot! He then went back in by himself, only to come back out with a verdict that still was not satisfactory. Finally, I asked if I could go in and talk with the judge as well.
When I went in, I explained to the judge that, I was not even driving, my car was turned off, the keys were in my pocket, and the officer pulled on to the street before I had even gotten back in my vehicle. In turn, I got the judge to drop most all charges, but being the expert that Doug wilder claims to be, you would think he would have request I get a PI rather than a DWI. He did not think to do it.
Furthermore, he tells me he is in a hurry to present on another case, and told me to just sign two documents and were out of here. I was just excited about getting most every fine dropped; I assumed it was safe to sign what he had presented to me. What he had me sign was a plea that I was guilty of a DWI, and that I cannot appeal the case ever. Why would I pay him $5000 to have me sign a document stating that I was guilty of DWI? That is what I hired him for in the first place was to have the DWI charge removed, and at least been charged with a PI.
The reason being for all this devastation to my rights was because Doug Wilder never even prepared for the case in advance. He showed up, and did not even have all the facts. I basically went in, did his job, and got a majority of the initial restitutions taken off. What a crook!
JUST FOREWARNING: If you want an attorney who rides on his ego rather than properly serving his clients, this is your man. If you want an attorney who will listen to you, and work for you, especially after you pay them $5000, be smart and go elsewhere besides Doug Wilder!!!

I wish to retract the amendment I made towards Doug Wilder. We had spoken and he told me that he would assist me in making my case right if I could have my first statement removed. However, due to restrictions with Ripoff Reports policy, a statement cannot be removed once placed. I explained this to him, and told him I would at least write a message stating that we had resolved our issues with one another. This was not good enough, therefore he did not assist me at all
In turn, I wish to state that nothing was resolved between us, and I firmly stand by my first statement. If you consider hiring him to defend you, do it at your own risk. I paid him $5,000 dollars, only to have him not even investigate or study my case. I did more good going into the courtroom then he did in the three times he went in and out of there. He also mentioned he is in a hurry, and was agitated when I asked if I could speck with the judge. He mentioned again he was in a hurry when he presented me some paper work to sign, without giving explanation of what they were so I would just sign them so he could go on. This was a mistake on my part. You would think for $5,000 your attorney would have come to the court with all the facts together, and at least attempt to be prepared to explain all the facts so you could get a fair trial.
Instead, after he was paid, he did not care what happened with my case. It was not worth putting any effort into...my money was in his bank! The least he could have done was refund a partial amount of what I paid him since he did not do what he had been paid for.
In closing, Doug Wilder proclaims to be the "Best DWI Attorney in Texas". At least the is what he paid a magazine to post. Don't believe it! You hire him, and he will be as unreliable to you as he was for me. Typical attorney, out to rob you of your money, then just throw you into the fire with more favoritism to the judge.
There are a lot better attorneys out there. Check them out before you think of hiring him!

You said he never met with you once from the time of the charge and the court case. When did you actually pay the $5,000? Before or after you signed the papers at the court the day of the verdict? At which point did you realize this guy was not a good attorney to represent you? $5,000 seem like a heck of a lot of money to be paying an attorney in the first place if you were not even driving and wasnt even behiind the wheel plus the keys still in your pocket when the cops came on the scene?
To pay someone because they were the best in the business for somethign you didnt do , sound like way too much trouble or a lotmissing in between whats posted here.
