In a weak (moronic) moment, I purchased a timeshare from Sunterra Resorts (since purchased by Diamond Resorts Intl.) on 9/9/07, having been shown that this was a cost-effective way to work my vacations. I became yet another foolish victim, being totally misled by these unethical leaches.

1) I was assured that the service was easy to use and that my reservation options would be plentiful. This is NOT the case...the system is very complicated, has numerous restrictions, and it's next to impossible to get reservations that I want.

2) I was also assured that the annual maintenance fees would not be going up more than about 2% per year, and had just been raised, so there shouldn't be another increase for at least another 2-3 years. The first annual maintenance assessment was ridiculously high, and was already 11.4% higher than the estimate I had received just a couple of months prior!

Furthermore, I was told that the AZ Public Report CD simply duplicated the paperwork and information that we had already gone over. Hence, I didn't look at it until after the fact. It is NOT everything as previously discussed and agreed upon! I was tricked into not watching the disc before signing the documents.

There is NO control on the maintenance fees. The first time I learned about the alleged "cap" of 25% annual increase was on that CD that they led me away from watching earlier. 25% is absolutely outrageous in itself...PLUS, they can assess additional fees as the board deems necessary at any time. I already received one of those additional bills.

There must be some consumer protection against these unethical business practices.
