Complaint Review: Diamond Resorts

This relates to other posts concerning Diamond Resorts. We have been deeded owners since 2001 and had never converted to a new points system they were offering. On this most recent trip we opted to sit a listen to some updates related to our home resort (Kaanapali beach club). After hours with one of their sales representatives, somehow, we were convinced that converting to points made good sense although this came with a $20,000 price tag? There are some other details about this transaction that I won't mention right now but it made me a bit skeptical, but for some reason I did not listen to my little voice. After returning to our room and doing a little research on the web, lo and behold, I found numerous posts complaining about the process that Diamond Resorts is using to take away control from the owners.

We also own on Kauai at a different resort and had a different but somewhat similar experience with the former management company. Fortunately, we had attorneys as owners and they were very interested in taking back control of the resort from the thieves that pretended to be a management company. This other management company had also stacked the cards in their favor on the management board which made it impossible for owners to truly be represented. After 3 years of litigation, the owners now have full control of the property and we now determine which direction the resort moves, not some uninterested outsiders only interested in their financial gain at our expense. Diamond may be too large to tackle but if they are truly breaking or skirting HI laws then there is hope!
